i have a friend that went to ucsd and she loved it there. she did say that your college experience is what you make of it though. but she had a blast in sd and would recommend the school to anyone. that said, i dont think you should go by what others tell you about it..if you get a chance, go visit yourself. you might like what you see. i think it's a very pretty campus. i definitely want to go there if i'm accepted (it was between ucla and sd but since la rejected me..)

I don't have a chance to go visit SD n so the only way to knwo is from ppl opinions :/ I heard the campus is beautiful...i wonder if it looks depressing. somehow UCI gives me a depressing feel.

UCSD is beautiful, one can find a social life if you look

IT DOES SUCK!
WHO WANTS TO GO TO UCSD!

(yeah i'm just saying that because i desperately want to go there and there is no other college in the world i would take over it.... Feel free to hate it :) )

i dont think it looks depressing..gave me a kinda peaceful feeling when i visited (then again it wasn't busy because school was out, lol)

Ucsd Is Cool!!!

i definitely agree!

I actually didn't really like the campus when I visited. There are a lot of... trees. I guess I was expecting more wide open grassy spaces or a really beachy feeling. I think Carolyn's right... there wasn't much of an overall campus feeling, even though I ate lunch surrounded by people.

But it is a very good school. I think I was expecting a lot because I'd heard how beautiful it was, and I was let down. But then again, it could just be that it's not really my 'style' or setting. Who knows, I might end up going there anyway.

I grew up in San Diego and visited UCSD from time to time. While I haven't taken many classes there, after going around and visiting SDSU, Mesa, UCLA, UCSB, Harvard, BU, and Tufts, UCSD still has my favorite campus.

Yes, there are a lot of trees, but I consider that a plus. The other colleges I visited didn't have anything like them, and considering the lack of many other nice forested areas in the city you start to look at the trees as really special after a while. It's really relaxing just to be walking through the middle of them on the way from one class to another.

Also, did any of you notice the metal tree? If you look hard enough, you'll find a tree made completely of metal with a faint radio in it. It blends in remarkably well with the other trees to the point where you really have to know to look for it to find it.

One of the main reasons I would visit UCSD is to spend time at the library. The building is a work of art, and is the most sensibly organized of the college libraries I've seen so far (UCLA's is a maze).

The fountains running everywhere aren't quite beautiful, but they do create a nice, comforting atmosphere.

There are a few wide grassy spaces, though a few of them are taken up by towering Native American-themed sculptures. When I was little I loved the big eagle-headed one, and I'd run in circles under it. Good times.

If beaches are important to you, UCSD is about a minute away from a waterfront complete with surfing, scuba diving, etc. If for some reason you're not fond of that particular beach, San Diego itself is FULL of great beaches.

Also, UCSD has the second largest college anime club in the country, if you're into that sort of thing =p It meets just downstairs from the arcade, which is right next to the food court.

As for people disliking UCSD, there are going to be people who dislike any college, and most of the people I know who go there like it very much.

In case you're wondering after I've showered praise on the place, no, I'm not a student at UCSD, and no, I'm not planning on attending UCSD for college (I want a place with a strong non-electronic music department, and that's something UCSD just doesn't really have). It's just that looking at all sorts of other colleges has really made me appreciate everything that UCSD has. It's a really nice place.

UCSD is so beautiful. UGH UCSD please accept me :(
