I go to the University of Central Florida which has a grade forgiveness policy, and I’m transferring to the University of Florida which I know does not have one. Does UF honor the grade forgiveness policy of other in-state universities? For example, if I first got a D in a class and then, through grade forgiveness, I got a B, which grade will UF accept as the “legitimate” one or will they just accept both? (On my UCF transcripts, it shows both, but only the second grade is used for GPA.)
Since UF does not have grade forgiveness, they will count both grades when calculating your GPA.
I’m currently a student at Palm Beach State College and had the same concern when applying as a transfer to UF. When I contacted UF, an admissions officer told me that because Palm Beach State does grade forgiveness, once they receive my updated grade, that’s what the grade will be on my file. I’m not sure if they have a different policy for transfers from state schools and universities, but I would definitely call the office of admissions or the school you’re applying for to find out!
