I heard they are improving on FA for OOS students… is that true?
Use the net price calculator to get an estimate for your own situation:

They’re not great about giving it in-state. I think OOS, you’re facing a tough path fwd.
UMich meets need for all in-state students. It TRIES to meet need for OOS. Run the NPC.
OOS need based aid is definitely improving.
While I will not be attending, my OOS FA package was excellent. The only university that beat it was an Ivy.
I’ve been recently accepted, and my OOS financial aid is very doable. My parents make about 60k per year, and I’d receive 43k grants from Michigan with about 12k per year cost. So, dividing that between me and my parents, I’d graduate with minimal debt, which is great!
Oh, darn… now I really regret not applying there. I didn’t apply because I thought I wouldn’t be able to afford it bc OOS but now, it seems as though UMich has AMAZING financial aid for a public institution
There are NPC for schools. There is no reason not to do that first before making a list of schools to apply.
@billcsho I did not NPC for most of the schools that I was interested in. Most of them were WAY off though.
I am OOS and received a need-based financial aid package that covered 100% of my cost of attendance.
@MandomeLife Congrats! And haha thanks that was really helpful
