I’m interested in getting involved with more ecology oriented biology research next year. Would medical schools regard this as relevant research experience? Basically, is it best to have an understanding of bio-medical research or is it just important to have an understanding of the professional research process itself? I would obviously be pairing this with medically related volunteering/shadowing, but I just feel like ecology research is more interesting and something I’d prefer as a fallback career if medical school doesn’t work out.
edit: I am more interested in being a doctor than an ecologist, I’m just not interested in bio-medical lab research.
They’re more interested in your experience in the professional research process and that you’re actively involved in it.
