Hey all,
I have searched throught the threads on cuts and haven't found this answer?! I thought at some point that I saw that they did have cuts.
My DS was at a dinner last night for OU and was told they didn't have cuts. He is thinking about adding this school to his list, but doesn't want to persue it if they have cuts.

A poster named mtmommy who used to post on this board has a daughter who goes to OU and they are very happy with the program. I am in touch with her off list, and will mention to her that someone here is asking about the program.

Hi jbg, my daughter is a junior in MT at OU. They absolutely do not have cuts. They jury in voice each semester, but there is no grade attached to it--and they do not get cut. My daughter's class started with 13 students (7 girls and 6 boys) and 2 girls left within the first year to major in academic subjects. The other 11 are still in the program and doing well. Please ask me if you have any other questions about the program. I can highly recommend it!

Thanks so much NotMamaRose and mtmommy. As I said, my DS was at an OU dinner last night and sat with the director of Fine Arts (who I guess was the MT director until this year). My Sons first choice had been OCU and he is auditioning there in November. He will be at the North Texas Unified (which is only for North texas students) and will do his pre-audition there for OU now. We will see if he gets an invite to audition at OU.

mtmommy, did your dd send an audition tape or was she at one of the pre-auditions?

jbg, my daughter was looking at OU pretty early on and had contacted them and asked lots of questions before the unifieds of her junior year, so they invited her to just come to the unifieds her junior (not senior) year (we live in driving distance from the LA one) and do the pre-audition there (that way she didn't have to do a tape). I wish I could tell you if more kids get to audition based on the tape or the pre-auditions at unifieds or the drama conferences. Feel me to email or pm me if you specific questions. Best of luck in all this.
