Does UNR offer full-rides?

From what I can tell on their site, they only offer up to a $5,000 merit scholarship, but I’m wondering if they offer full rides? My GPA is 3.92 UW / 4.72 W, and my SAT score is 1500 (Math + Reading) / 2240 (total).

Yes, $5K looks like top award they have. If you’re looking for full tuition you’ll have to look elsewhere. Check the pinned threads at the top of this forum.

I hope hope that ypu applied to some schools where your terrific stats would garner significant merit aid. I hope!! Many of the deadlines for the most generous awards have passed.

ETA…is this your application list? Are you instate or OOS for California?

What is your home state?

Are you a NMSF?

With your stats, you should be able to get large merit at some schools that are better than UNR.

Yes that is me @thumper1  I’m in state for Nevada

@mom2collegekids my home state is Nevada, & I didn’t take the PSAT junior year. & I certainly hope so  But in state is usually cheaper, which is why I’m wondering about UNR’s scholarships

The UC’s are very expensive for OOS students. Do you know how much your parents will pay each year?

What is your major?

OSU should give you a good sized award…full tuition maybe?

The Presidential Scholarship can be stacked with the Millenium Scholarship. Between the two, that covers most of your tuition and fees.

@mom2collegekids‌ we aren’t sure yet
My major is political science
That’s good to hear!
@LVKris‌ the thing is, it doesn’t cover room and board from what I can tell, although I guess that can be figured out

Do you need a full ride? What can your parents pay? Those California school are not going to give you much or anything. But there are places that will. Too bad you missed many deadlines but if you still need to look, let people know so they can make suggestions. Also many schools here you can get full ride/full tuition:

@brownparent I don’t absolutely need a full ride, but it would be great if I were able to. Thanks for the suggestion

CA schools are not particularly generous to OOS students. In terms of need based aid, at a UC, you can plan to pay the differential between in and out of state tuition which is about $23,000 PLUS your family contribution per FAFSA PLUS a student contribution (a Direct Loan can be used for this).

If you didn’t take the PSAT, you cannot be a NMSF.
