And can they be in different schools?

What three majors are you wanting to pursue?

I would imagine that you can have as many majors as you wish, but keep in mind how long it will take to complete three majors. Will the the majors really be worth the extra time?

Beyond a certain number of hours, I think tuition can be increased to out of state rates. I thought I read that somewhere …

Triple majoring might sound like a good idea now, but they had better be really easy majors… I wanted to double major in chemical engineering and something business, but after getting involved in organizations and research, I definitely don’t have time to double major.

I know a EE/CS/Economics major, but I believe he came in from TAMS with 100+ hours.

^An EE/CS/Econ triple major…holy crap!

You should complete one or two semesters with good grades, then maybe try the multiple majors. To makesure you can handle the load. It always sounds good before you start, after, it can be to much on one person. UT isnt like high school, its alot of work. Just make sure you can handle the one or two major first, to be safe:) Your grades from now on will follow you to grad school(main objective, get good grades.)

It completely depends on the school:

You can take on multiple Liberal Arts majors without tremendous difficulty. The only requirement is that each is 24 hours in excess of the degree with the maximum required hours.

However, if you take on multiple majors in multiple schools, it may potentially require a lot of hours. I think I ended up with something like 210 hours for EE + Music degrees.

Yes, economics double majors are only about 20-24 hours. EE and CS overlap a bit too.

SUPER LATE RESPONSE:

If I were to triple major, I would do computer science, math, and psychology. And is there a limit to the amount of hours you can take?

There is a 17 hour limit imposed per semester that can be overriden by an academic advisor.

As far as I can tell, there’s no upper limit to the total accumulated hours. They will, however, require you to justify the hours you are taking if you continue to require financial aid.

Will they charge you more if you go over the 17 hour limit?

My friend is a triple major and she has a life. rtf/arabic/somethingelseican’tremember

but its a lot of work, and she has stayed here over the summers to finish up a lot of coursework (doesnt really get a break)

i wouldn’t triple major just to say ‘im a triple major’ but if u think u can excel under that kind of workload and the material speaks to you, then go for it! :)

A lot of the EE/CS courses would be related, and the econ major at UT requires much fewer hours than most other schools, to the point where the econ major can be seen as a double minor, especially considering that ECON 304 applies to the general degree reqs. and 408C/D was already taken for CS/EE.

Just found this:

[Dean’s Honored Graduates](http://cns.utexas.edu/honors-scholarships/deans-honored-graduates)

Pretty crazy…

When Ivo takes their course, faculty put it on their curriculum vitae.

The only reason he doesn’t have a 4.0 is he got a “A” instead of an “A+” in a course, just to see how it feels.

He is the only person to ever ace a Rorschach Test.

Ivo counted to infinity . . . twice.

Campus police often question him, just because they find him interesting.

He once visited a Psychic…to warn her.

His mom has a “Ivo” tattoo.

Yes, they do allow triple majors, but it will be difficult to graduate in 4 years with that many majors…
