Hey guys, so after considering a lot of things I have decided that it would be awesome to double major. I would be coming into UT as a freshman but a sophomore by hours. Here's the deal, since I already have around around 44 transferable hours, does this mean I can complete a double major in 4 years by taking lets say 15 hours per semester? My major as of now is undecided business but im pretty sure I want to do finance. Also, should I do finance + econ? Other than Econ or Poli Sci there isn't much that interests me.

You will be able to graduate in 4 years. I was in the same situation as you when I entered, I am now a Junior double majoring in Chinese and Finance with a minor in European Studies. Though in order to complete all that on time I take a full load of summer school every summer and more than 15 hours every semester. Just map out your classes and hours to figure out how many classes you will need to take and if you need some summer school. I did most of my basics over the summer at a community college in my home town.

As for what double major…don’t double major just because you can and don’t ask what you should double major in. If there is a subject other than your main major you really love, then take on that extra major, otherwise I don’t really see a point in the extra work. If you only like political science and econ, choose one of those.

I did Chinese because I really, really wanted to learn it. Not because it looked good, but it just interested me. Same with my minor. None of them have much to do with one another, except for the fact I really like studying them. :)

Do you what interests you. No one can tell you what to major in. Your combination doesn’t matter.
