Does UT Austin have a good Biology Degree?

Hey guys, I am looking to go into Biology and am trying to find a good school for it. I am leaning towards environmental biology, instead of medical. Currently looking at plant, conservation, and marine. I see that UT Austin has all of these, but are they good programs? Is it mostly classroom work or is there also labs and field work? Also, I was looking into Honors programs and did not see one specifically for students interested in what I am. I only found Dean’s Scholars, but I do not think I will get in. Are there any others?

UT has different BIO degree options depending on your focus, as well as if you are in honors you have to do the honors option which lets you do the other options mixed together or to do another option but it will appear as honors instead.

Dean’s Scholars Honors Program or Polymathic would be the best for your current interests, polymathic is very flexible if you want to have a lot of liberty with your degree, also since the deadline passed if you get into one and want to transfer you can apply to transfer after each semester. Also if your in polymathic and want to be in Deans tell Mark(that is the advisor for CNS honors) that at orientation so that he can put you in the classes for deans or else you will be a semester behind since deans is a lot more structured and takes advanced classes right of the back unlike Polymathic since you have the option there but most avoid it.
