Does UW have to see my college grades as a high schooler?

I’m a high school student currently taking a college class at UW Seattle. But my grade is not that good and I don’t UW to see it when I apply as a freshman (I just want to mention that I took the class). Is there a way to “hide” this grade from them?

All transcripts and grades must be sent. They will see when you took the course.

But I am a high schooler as a non-matriculated college student. It isn’t required to send them college transcripts. Would I be better off if I didn’t send my UW transcript?

You MUST send in all transcripts. It is not your choice.

OP, you will need to report the grade. Grades from college classes are forever.

Apparently, UW has a system of self-reporting grades on the Coalition App and then asking for the official transcript later (presumably upon matriculation?).

There is a Clearing house for college transcripts which will have a record of that class. You will need to report that course grade and submit a transcript. Do not consider not reporting that class since it could lead to you being rescinded at any college you apply or even further down the road if found out you lied on your application, your degree could be taken away. It is not worth hiding 1 grade.

Absolutely. You can simply just not report it on the application and not send in the college transcript.

However, just because that’s what you can do, does not mean that is what you should do. You must include all past transcripts when requested. You should assume that it is not a question of if UW will find out, because with the clearinghouse, they will find out.

So, your question should really be: Has UW ever rescinded an admittance, told a student to withdraw, or revoked a diploma? The answer is yes to all three. That really is all you need to know.

You’re taking a class at the same campus where you will be applying, how would they NOT have access to your grade, even if you didn’t send the transcript?

Something to consider, beyond your college application: You will have a transcript with a grade at UW even before you start as a freshman. Unless UW has special rules, that course remains part of your transcript, and will count toward your GPA while you’re there as a matriculated student. This is the catch-22 of taking college classes during high school, particularly those dual-enrollment classes if you’re planning to attend the same college. If you do well, it will pad your GPA, but if you do poorly, it will forever drag your GPA down.

^Even if the student doesn’t attend the same college, grad school admissions will require the transcript sent and will include the grade in college gpa calculations.

Nope. UW requires all transcripts (High School and College) What you can do is retake a class. When I applied to schools, on my transcripts it showed that it was still there but it was taken out of the equation because I retook the class. Now that doesn’t mean they still won’t look at that past grade, because they most likely will. It will show admissions your improvement and that you don’t give up. If you’re that pressed about the grade just retake the class or explain in an essay why you got that grade.

What @skieurope said. Generally speaking, you must report your class and grade to ALL the colleges to which you apply, UW and everywhere else. Otherwise, you are at risk of having your admission rescinded.
