I was a running start student but did not get in to UW Seattle last quarter as a freshman.
I reapplied as a transfer for Winter quarter.

And I heard when I applied as a freshman that when you check myUW and click on unofficial transcript and it loads that means you got accepted. Does this trick work for transfers too?

Because last time I applied and did not get in, the unofficial transcript did not load, but right now I am applied as a transfer waiting for the mail and I clicked on the unofficial transcript and it loaded! It had my student number major and everything... does anyone know?

I am in the same position as you. I have had a loaded transcript since the 25th with major, college etc. I haven’t gotten anything in the mail yet and when I asked admissions they said " an unofficial transcript may not be indicative of your application status at the Seattle campus-notifications should be out shortly". Very vague and disappointing response. I too had applied for fall, but had missing information and was “strongly encouraged” to reapply for winter. During my previous experience where I was not admitted, I had no transcript load. At this point, I just want a response. I’d like to sleep again and be able to focus on anything not UW related :)

@Jsmith210 i see…same here…i just want the mail already and the notification period is nov-dec which is really vague too…do you know if anyone got their mail in yet?

I don’t know. I am assuming that someone would have posted had they got the actual letter by now; that is pretty big news. I am hopeful as when I was not admitted I had no transcript; however, I have grown weary of stalking the mailbox. For now, I say we remain cautiously optimistic until we have the “official” notification in hand.

I am a transfer too. My transcript hasn’t loaded yet, so hopefully it will load soon if that really means acceptance. I have a feeling it does because it always has in the past. So congratulations for that guys and keep positive! :)

My unofficial transcript loaded 10/25. 'Still haven’t received “the BIG envelope” yet.

This afternoon my financial aid status changed. Previously it stated, “No awards for this year.” Now the status reads:

Your application for financial aid is being reviewed.
If we had previously offered you aid we may need to revise it. You will be able to review your award here in one week.

I am also a transfer student and believe the “unofficial transcript” trick is a good indicator that we’ve been accepted.

As soon as anything official comes my way, I’ll be sure to post. Good luck everyone. :)

I received an acceptance letter from my intended major (Public Health) on sunday 11/3 but have heard nothing from the university itself. Anyone have similar experiences or know if they often reject students even after being accepted into their major?

I also received an acceptance letter from my competitive major (early childhood and family studies) but have not heard from the actual college yet. Biting my nails waiting.

I am getting pretty discouraged, I am pretty sure I don’t have a chance at getting in anyway but I had a small shred of hope. I got accepted into my major program but, honestly has anyone ever heard of someone getting in with a 2.7 GPA? I have a complete Associates Arts degree which was my small shred of hope. What do you guys think? No chance?

I am curious to know if you get accepted because I am in a similar situation. I have a 3.0 and an AS degree from NSCC. My low GPA is mostly due to transferred credits from a college I went to 10 years ago, which I explained in my essay. If you have a strong essay, I would like to believe you will be accepted because you have an associates degree. I don’t have an unofficial transcript loaded or letter yet but I am trying to remain hopeful. UW prefers transfers with associate degrees from in state community college. Stay positive and let us know when you get your decision!

According to my College of Engineering Advisor @ UW, in the case that UW were to deny you, but the department approves you, the University must accept you. It’s basically a situation where the University screened your application based solely only on their criteria. However, once a specific department accepts you, (this time based on their criteria,) then there is an automatic admission approval that must be honored by the University.

Take comfort in the fact that you’ve received an acceptance letter from your department, and congratulate yourself on becoming a Husky!

@daniikinns,
I was accepted to my major before I was accepted to the University also. So just wait and the welcome packet should come soon! Congratulations!!!
