Does Wellesley sometimes issue an earlier "Likely to Reject" notice?

On another forum, I mentioned that some very selective schools decades ago used to issue “Likely to Reject” notices to a portion of their Reg Decision applicants in Feb or March.

Someone replied that Wellesley still does this. Can anyone confirm? TYVM

Yes, if you select the option for this to be done and get your application in by a certain date. They don’t do it automatically. They might also issue a “Likely to Accept” or “It’s Possible” notice.

Yes. If you opt for this, you will receive a “likely,” “possible” or “unlikely” notification in February. If you aren’t applying anywhere early decision (and even if you are), this is a good option because at least you will know where you stand with Wellesley while you wait for the other results to come in.

My daughter applied RD everywhere, and that wait between getting the applications in and hearing back from schools was mighty long! Hearing a “likely” from Wellesley gave her an added boost of confidence.

“Early Evaluation” is its name. This is non binding for applicants and is sandwiched between ED (now ED1 and ED2?) and RD. Smith coincidentally uses the release date for Wellesley EE decisions to send likely letters to some of its strongest RD applicants.
