Out of curiousity, I was wondering if Yale had a good economics undergraduate program. I am not sure what exactly I want to major in (I'm still in high school) but economics is something that I am considering. I'm sorry if somebody else has asked this question; I don't think that there are any threats about Yale's economic undergraduate program, but I'm not 100% sure.

Anyways, if anyone who knows anything about it, if you could please post something that would be great!

yea erm... bump again if anyone has anything to say it would be nice to post it

Yes it does. I don't know how it is rated, but the graduate program in economics is rated in the top ten in the country. It is a popular undergraduate major, so that must mean something about the quality of the instruction in econ.

ok thanx so much lemonjello, that's what i had hoped

It's not quite up there with Chicago, Harvard, Princeton and MIT, which are among the highest ranked, but it is still quite strong.

yea, usually Yale is ranked just below them though, which is still very good

i was wondering also where you could find this information... either Lemonjello or wrathofgod or anybody else who knows where rankings for good economic undergraduate programs

hi im in the same positin as dance..i'm looking at the chicago, yale, and dartmouth's econ programs. chicago was ranked 1...you guys said yale is right below princeton, chicago, harvard ,MIT. how about dartmouth? anybody know? i should probably ask this in the dartmouth forums but since you guys seem to know your stuff maybe you would know. Is there a ranking out by usnews or somebody else?

Im not quite sure... I was looking there but i didnt see any... i dunno if like anyone knows where a ranking is... if they could put a link...

bump... if anyone else nos anything, could ya post...

Its Yale, of course its good.

true ahshockey but the thing is that im wondering like how good it is compared to other top colleges, which i probably should have made more clear in my first post...

Economics is a broad topic, and even among the top schools there's lots of variation about who's good at what. I think that the only factor holding yale back is the econometrics side of things, the other sub-departments are quite strong and on part with the likes of Chicago and MIT.

The top five economics programs tend to be Stanford, Chicago, MIT, Princeton and Harvard.

Yale's is just below, however.

oh ok thanx zephyr that was the kinda answer that i was looking for...

anybody else have anything to contribute...

just to let every1 no i started another thread in the "business majors" forum, so you can still post ur thoughts here, but on that post I am asking ppl to rank like what they think is the top ten school with the best undergrad economics programs. So check that thread out!
