Does Yale place more emphasis on grades in the admissions process than other Ivies?

Upon reading the admissions information on the Yale website, it seems to me that Yale places much more emphasis on grades than the other Ivies; I feel like its admission process is much less holistic. Is this true?

Given the vast amount of 4.0s and 2200+s I can assure you that Yale’s admissions process is very holistic.

^^ Agree. Dude: The most important part of any application is your transcript, course rigor and GPA – and that’s just not at Yale, but at all colleges.

After reading over Yale’s website, I cannot find one mention of the word grade or grades. What I do find is Yale being very clear that great test scores are not a substitute for a so-so transcript – and I think that’s also true at all selective colleges.

“While there is no hard and fast rule, it is safe to say that performance in school is more important than testing. A very strong performance in a demanding college preparatory program may compensate for modest standardized test scores, but it is unlikely that high standardized test scores will persuade the admissions committee to disregard an undistinguished secondary-school record.”
