Does you know someone who appealed to NYU?

Did it work? And what else do you know. Please elaborate.

well. . .

from our very own college confidential:

[Appealing a College Rejection - Ask The Dean](http://www.collegeconfidential.com/dean/archives/000288.htm)

also, this:

http://www.collegeconfidential.com/dean/archives/appealing-a-dream-school-denial.htm</a></p>

basically, they both say that unless you have something totally crazy happen (aka, you got really sick but never told the ad com, your guidance counselor messed up really bad) it never really helps. and the reasoning makes sense. . . if you let a few people “appeal” a decision on the grounds of, “but i REALLY want to go here!”, what’s to stop other people from trying to appeal?

you don’t think i wanted to appeal when i got rejected in 2005? honestly, focus on the future, work hard at whatever school you get into and TRANSFER.

i worked my tail off to transfer here. i worked two jobs i hated, an internship that totally sucked, took classes that i couldn’t stand. i commuted by bus, two hours EVERY DAY to attend classes at a community college that i absolutely LOATHED. do you know how many nights i cried myself to sleep because i thought that i had totally messed up the one chance to go to NYU?

it never comes easy.

and now i’m here. class of 2011.

i never got to appeal, and quite frankly, i don’t even think it will help you. if you really think you belong here, stop wasting your time with appeal letters and work on your other applications. work hard your first year at college, and make yourself look so good that NYU will fall over themselves because they want to accept you so bad.

thank you for this post missamericanpie :)

I didn’t get into NYU ED and I keep trying not to be upset about it but it really does suck. I am having trouble trying to figure out what school to go to now, but I’ve got a few and I am actually really excited about some of them. I agree, stuff like this never comes easy. I am glad you finally ended up at NYU, I am going to try to tranfer. I am not going to give up.

lol yeah i thot i was the only one : ]

actually…i was like where am i gonna go now! community college?? lol but im actually thinkin of just going to another private school (within my reach!) and then transfer there…its just idk cuz if i like it where i go, then i might not want to transfer. but ive always wanted to go there…and then if i make friends at the first place, and move to ny then ill have to start all over. but i guess id only have to go for 2 semesters and thats not that long. and its better to go somewhere in the beginning just in case i get rejected again as a transfer…idk how the whole transfer selection is done but im hoping its if u keep up good grades, then u’ll have a good chance.

does anyone know if sat scores dont matter so much once u transfer?

wow i just realized my thread title is “does you know…” lol
