I know a little bit about Skyline although i go to City(CCSF). From what my friends have told me its very easy to get the classes you want. Lots of filipinos although it is Daly City.

As for classes I found it interesting how my friend at City can't take Chem without taking the pre-req just to take the chem class.Where as my friend at Skyline gets to take chem and such without taking pre-chem classes no pre-reqs to take.
As for English I believe it to be easier at Skyline since my friend said they only have 96-1A-1B-1C.Not 100% on this but it was interesting when i found out a friend who just came here from Korea whos english is really bad was almost done with 1B english with a good grade and trust me this girls english was bad.

Some also say Skyline has more of a College feel to it.

loathed-i'm not sure about international, but i was out-of-state when i first started (i've lived in california since i was 17 and i'm 21 now) and they were not strict at ALL. i think if you're looking for a good CCC in the LA area, the order would be SMC, PCC, el camino, pierce, and then the rest of them.

i hope this is not true, seriously. --->

"Santa Monica College is a racially hostile environment, where teachers and faculty members as well as student workers rutinely practice institutionalized racism. SMC is a campus where institutionalized racism is actively promoted from within.Faculty is unwilling to do anything about it, those faculty who do not engage in this sort of behavior recieve negative re-inforcement when attempting to do anything about it. In many cases, these people are threatend with loosing their jobs as well as threated to be ostrisized and in many cases they do loose their jobs and are ostrisized. I do not reccommend SMC to anyone working OUTSIDE of the racist agenda."

if it really is, i will never apply to SMC, no matter the transfer rate. please tell me its not true =/

loathed-where did you get that, juicycampus for community college?

i have been at SMC for over three years, and yes, i have had my qualms with them and I'm glad I am leaving there, but i have NEVER seen any shape or form of racism on that campus whatsoever. I'm incredulous that someone would post something like that.

loathed-i had a grade appeal process that it was like pulling teeth to get complete, but it finally did and i won, but it took 8 months of my life and it really stressed out because it was a GIANT error and potentially jeopardized my applications.

they also never let me reclass to resident status, even though i've been paying california taxes and living in the state since i was 17, so i had to pay nonresident tuition and so i've given them a ton of money that wasn't really needed to be paid.

I don't really think that going to a certain community college matters... I actually talked to one of the counselors at DeAnza because I was thinking of going there since I heard that they send a ton of people to UCs. And when I asked him if there was a difference going to DeAnza and going to another community college, he just said that they have more people transferring from their school because they have more students/students who apply... compared to like smaller schools or whatever.

Maybe some community colleges are tied to certain UCs because they're close or something. Just make sure that if you want to do special programs like TAP or TAG, to choose a community college that actually offers it! :)

De Anza vs Foothill
According to the school newspaper, this fall De Anza may start the TAP. However Foothill seems to care more about getting connected, not only TAP but they get transfer agreement with more private colleges. Personally, I prefer the Honor Program in De Anza because they offer much more Honor classes, lots of them are Cohort courses which means you only do one more assignment than regular students and you get Honor credits.

Also go to a school with more transferring students make me work harder :).

if you are really competitive, then try to find the best CC to go to. you will be much more likely to succeed if you surround yourself with people who ALSO want to succeed.

if you really don't care, then find the one that is closest to drive to. you'll save alot in gas $$ that way. :)

According to my foothill pamphlet, UCD, UCI, UCM, UCSC all offer TAG for international students. I think TAP is available for all students as well, I am not sure about it though.

thank you. so not all campuses have TAG for international studens...hmm, anyone knows if TAP is available for international students?

if say...i do not go for TAG or TAP, i will still be able to transfer, but i'll just have less priority than the TAG/TAP certified students right?
