So do any of you whose kids also don't visit here wonder if our kids are "different" from all those who do? And/or what it reflects about them?

No WAY my D looks at this site and thinks I am an over-involved geek for looking at it myself! However, she is interested in any information I'm able to gather on her behalf...

Sounds like many of our kids would probably say, "I'm not hungry." if we told them we had some fresh eggs and bacon or pancake mix in the fridge and to go into the kitchen and fix themselves something to eat. Or maybe they'd eat some cold (sugar loaded) breakfast cereal.

But they'd come down and eat those eggs or french toast if we went to the stairs and called up to their rooms, "Breakfast's ready!"

mhc48, probably the most asbestos-wrapped answer to that is that they're too busy doing other interesting things, and they have parents who keep them well informed about the college process.

I'm not sure I want to try going any farther than that - and I really don't want to fault the kids who come here seeking information because they don't know where else to find it.

Mathmom, yep, me too. :) Harriet's been a great alter-ego for decades now.

I think mine does visit occasionally, if only to see what I am saying about her - LOL!

My D2 will sporadically sign on to CC, but very rarely. I do email her threads I think she should read and believe she looks at them. She's really too busy with school and activities to attempt to try to keep up with it all. Also, now that all her applications are in, she'd rather not think about it too much.

D1 never had any interest in CC, though some of her high achieving friends used it. My H accuses me of being totally addicted and is the chief eye-roller in my house. I tend to stay logged in when watching TV or doing other work on the computer...I feel like I might miss something interesting.

No way. But I did hear, "Wow Mom, how did you know that?!" a lot.

Great question. D/D (sophomore) is too busy with H.W. and E.C's and when she has downtime she would much rather go on youtube than come here.

My D is absolutely NOT like the kids who come here, which has it's pros and cons, and would usually take the cold cereal option. FWIW, she is much more involved in the present then in the future, and I can see value in that. She seems to spend her online time on "dollwizard" writing interactive fiction. Anybody know any thing about that?

DD does not go anywhere near this site. However, she does use the knowledge I learned from this site. She even told me her teacher thinks it's a good idea to include postcards in letter of recommendations and will telll other kids at her school.
DH said I need to go for counseling for spending so much time at CC.;)
