My questions:

1.) What are my chances of getting into UNC Chapel Hill?
2.) What other colleges can I get into? (that are decent)
3.) What can I do to improve myself?

PLEASE help. I'll really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

amazing stats. really just keep up the fantastic record throughout your 1st semester of senior year and you will have your pick of the crop.

1) Pretty good. Someone from my school got into UNC with worse scores than that. Though she did have the IB
2) A lot. An almost endless amount.
3) Like I said you’ve got pretty good chances on getting into a lot of schools, so I’d suggest just improving on some things that mean something to you and that you want to improve on for the sake of improvement.

Thank you so much! Anyone else?

Can you be a bit more clear here? What did you get on the SAT? How exactly did you calculate that GPA? How many AP’s does it include? How many people are in your class?

I got around 2020 but I said 2000+ bc I am planning on retaking until I get at least 2100.
I only took 3 APs sophmore year, which is why I am taking 9 for junior & senior year. I took 10 honors and 3 academics.
There are roughly 500 students in my class.

Thanks!

Well a lot will depend on exactly how high your SAT scores get and how you do in 11th grade, but right now I’d guess it’s basically a match - no reason to be either overly optimistic or pessimistic. If I had to lean one way, I’d say it’s slightly more likely that you will get in.

You’re a good go for UNC.

HYPS however, you have a slim to none chance.

you’re pretty much set for UNC…but why would you want to go there?? I’ve never even heard of it. To boost your chances to that school, you should just retake the SAT until you get the highest score you can. Because, contrary to what most CC’ers thing, test scores are very, very important. Without high test scores, your chances drop significantly. Find out the average SAT score for UNC and try to get above that.

^^^ You’ve never heard of UNC? It’s a big school and one of the best publics. It’s in the league of UMich and UVa. As long as the OP is talking about UNC Chapel Hill that is.
So it’s a great school. In addition to that, everyone I know there absolutely loves it and they have more school pride than anyone else I know (one guy is rarely seen without something UNC on).

I think that OP has great chances for UNC. Not a definite in, but really, really great chances.

OP sounds like a stereotypical asian.

Yeah. UNC is like the 5th best public, behind UVA, UM, UCB and UCLA.

generallyrong sounds like a stereotypical tool

the thing is, the kids with his profile generally do very well in college admissions, with the exception of Ivies, which OP said nothing about. so being a stereotypical asian isn’t necessarily a bad thing… (except on CC, where everyone is obsessed with HYPSM)

to the OP, keep it up and you’re a great bet for UNC-CH… which is an outstanding school, and really fun from what i’ve heard.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned in state/out of state yet. If you’re in state, you have a great chance of getting in If not, I think you’re still around a match but it will be a lot harder (UNC is over 80% in state).

Are you from NC? Makes a world of difference.

//so being a stereotypical asian isn’t necessarily a bad thing.//

Never said it was.

Are you in state or out of state?

In state, you’re already in. They won’t reject you.

Out of state, your chances are slightly smaller but I’d still say your stats are good enough to get you in.

Hey guys! Thanks so much.
Yes, I am in state.
I want to emphasize to colleges that I am very involved in languages (Took AP Chinese, SAT Chinese, Teacher’s assistant of AP CHinese, Teacher’s assistant of SAT Chinese…Will take AP English, took Creative Writing, Newspaper…Took AP French, Frenh Club member etc) is there any way I can emphasize this in some way or reinforce my strength in languages by joining some sort of collaboration?
I also want to earn many awards/recognition but I don’t know of any opportunities…suggestions?
Thank you!
