Don’t come to UVA

There is a lot of pressure on students to go to certain schools, but just because you were accepted, doesn’t mean you should attend. If you are truly miserable, get some counseling, and spend time looking at schools that better speak to who you are. Please take care of yourself.

PS You are not the only one who feels the way you do.

On many discussion sites, that type of original post would have been met with anger and personal attacks. On this board, the original commenter gets mothered. (smile)

@Depressed54321, as the mother of a second year student my heart goes out to you!

Please respond and let us know that you are okay.

I am so sorry that you are not having a good experience. Please know that others also are not accepted to each activity they apply to do. I hope you will continue to think about the kinds of activities you are interested in and get involved. Join a study group. Find a club that does not require tryouts. Do you like to run? Club Cross Country was welcoming to my wahoos. Or, consider volunteering in the greater Charlottesville Community. Do you like young kids? Volunteer at the Virginia Discovery Museum or one of our local schools. Do you like drama? Live Arts welcomes volunteers. There are many opportunities for involvement. I wish you all the best!
