Donation request time

We had our first call of the school year to ask us for a donation to UMW. My husband answered and politely declined but thanked her for calling. I know they are just work study students so I would have been polite but I probably would have made the suggestion that they not call parents until they are done paying tuition.

Do all schools do this? D #1's school used to send us stuff in the mail and I didn't mind that so much. It was easy to pitch it in the recycling bin w/o even opening it. The phone calls seem much more intrusive to me but then I hate telemarketing no matter who is doing it.

I haven’t received a call yet. I’ll have to make sure I know who it is on the phone, because my alma mater is also starting their telebegging season. I always donate to my alma mater, just as I assume S will donate to UMW after he graduates.

Until then, if they’re lucky I’ll answer the phone and politely decline. If my H answers, he’s not exactly known for tact and diplomacy. I’ll have to ask him not to go off on the poor student!

The caller ID said Commonwealth of VA, just in case you want to warn your husband. If you let it go to voicemail they just keep trying.
