God I'm so glad that I'm done! I had to take Spanish RIGHT BEFORE Stats! UGH and I had Calc BC today. My brain hurts. :(

Yeah same here.
Our teacher wants us to learn ANOVAs and MINITAB functions

.>

Can some tell me...
How many MC and free response questions do you need to get right to get a 3, 4, or 5?

Everyone is talking about how ridiculously easy the Statistics test was, but I actually thought there were a couple multiple choice questions that I could not get...so I skipped a few. Is that bad?

My Stat. class is not done either. I just took Part 1 of the Two-Day in class test we have...yes..the day after the AP Exam. We start a project on Friday, and we have Finals..booooooooo...

My teacher considered covering Chapter 15 in Yates et al since we stopped at 14 two weeks before the AP test, but he's decided to give us a project. My last day in that class is May 21! so pumped!

My class has to do a project, but really the class is now just a study hall for me.

Tomorrow we're buying pizza in class lolz.

so, are the 480 hours that we can't talk about the free-response questions over?

i really need help!

people in my class are not very good at math. everyone in my class thought calc was impossible, most didn't even get through trig. I really want to know how i did on the FR.

ok i'll start:

what test did you preform for question #5, part a?

what was your answer to did you give to question 6, the investigative task, part d?

the 2008 stat FRQs are posted online now on the collegeboard site so im guessing that means we'r free to discuss!

5a I did a chi square, using 117 moose x (proportion of acres) for expected counts.

^^ i did the same thing. for the second part of that question, did anyone else get that more moose preferred habitat 3??

1c: What was this asking?

4c: How did you find standard error of 40 degrees?

oh crap.

on #5 i did a linear regression test

i thought "number of moose observed in a habitat type to be PROPORTIONAL to the amount of acreage of that type of habitat" to imply that some type of proportionality must be present (in the claim), whether it be direct or indirect.

this led to to preform a linear regression test:

proportion of total acreage vs. number of moose observed

and so:

p-value= .33
t-statistic=1.26
df=2

conclusion: cannot reject the hypothesis at the (alpha=.05) statistical significance level

DID i get a zero on this part?

can someone please help?

I took it to mean that the proportion of moose had to match the acre proportion.

observed: given
expected: 117 x (proportion of acres) for all 4 habitats = 39, 12, 12, 50
x2 = (o-e) ^2 / e = 42.5834
dof = 4-1 = 3
p value = from the chart = # less than .0005 = reject ho

So....you might get a 0, dunno.

what did you guys put for 1 b and 1 c?

oh crap.

yep that's a zero

your way makes SO much more sense, especially in part B:

to solve it you simply look for the largest contribution to the X^2 statistic.

crap

oh well thanks

so what about part 6 d:?

(d) What additional information do the regression analyzes give you about student performance on the science
test at the two schools beyond the comparison of mean differences in part (a) ?

i think you talk about r squared and how it affects variablity?

for 1c you just put down how the mean is nonresistant and is affected by outliers/skewness, therefore, it will be lower than the median, since the second boxplot is left skewed.

What answer did u guys get for number 4 part c?

Wait, how many degrees of freedom for that question for the moose? I said 117 like someone mentioned before... is that totally wrong?? And for the last part of the moose question, i also said that they preferred habitat 3, but I did that on the last min so I've no clue if it's right.

df=3 for the moose problem i said they prefered both habitat 2 and 3 (but i think its just 3), what did u guys get for question 4 part C? http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/repository/ap08_stat_frq.pdf
