Don't applications that are reviewed first have an advantage?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the college applications that are reviewed first have an advantage over the ones that are viewed last? If a school has a limited number of spots, and it starts saying yes to students as they look through applications, aren't the last applications that look at disadvantaged? Obviously they can't look over 30,000 people and then decide which are the best right?

Yes, they do. Or in the case of UCLA, they have teams of readers that look over more than 90,000 applications. Applications are read, scored, and sorted. As long as the application was submitted in time, it has just as much chance of acceptance as the one submitted 2 months before the deadline.

Apps are read by numerous people before they go to the final committee for the decision, they don’t start awarding acceptances until every single app has been read numerous times. It doesn’t matter if you submitted in November or at 11:59 on January 1, you have an equal shot

^ That is so comforting to hear lol

I think it depends. If it’s rolling admissions then that’s a different story?

^Yes, when you apply does matter for rolling.

Yes, but I wouldn’t advise leaving it, literally, until the 11th hour, as that’s when mistakes are made.
