Sorry, this is probably an insanely noobish question but I have to ask for peace of mind.

Does it affect admissions decision if one was to turn in the application BEFORE the deadline but around the deadline, say one or two days before?

I say this primarily because I was thinking, what if the admissions officer takes into account when the application was submitted?

Also if submitted later, what if by the time the application is reviewed there is close to no space left? Or is that completely random?

Sorry, if people find this noobish.

Any responses would be greatly appreciated!

I believe all applications will be in the same position if submitted before the deadline. Only those that come late are at disadvantages. So no worries. ^^

For rolling admission, there is no deadline to begin with. But you're still encouraged to submit app early due too the "first come first serve" nature of this process.

The adcomm may be less annoyed if you send it in earlier (because they get a lot of apps on the final day), but I doubt it affects your chances at all unless it's rolling.

If you consider how the files are being assembled for reading, you'll see that your fears are unfounded. Once the first item arrives, a open file is started (maybe unsolicited SAT scores or your app or whatever). When all the items eventually come in (payment, transcript, recs, scores, etc.) then the file is complete and sent to the "read" pile.

And YES, items are still arriving and there are still many incomplete files extant. The readers have tons to go through and why should they give one iota of consideration to when the mail room/office sorter scanned the last item of the file and marked it "complete"?

The job is difficult enough- -- you think someone weighs negatively something like that?

CC paranoia -- watch out for it. It's everywhere! LOL
