Dont come here anymore!

I used to come here every day but I havnt visited in a good solid 2-3 weeks. Now I feel so much better so im coming back to help you guys! :)

All the apps are in. Theres no point in moping around here asking what are my chances! Im gonna die if i dont get accepted, etc.

Enjoy senior year. Even if you cant enjoy it, at least dont spend 2 months worrying about it. Believe me, Im worried as you guys are. But Im saying screw it!! You'll feel so much better about yourself.

How did you do it? I can't resist refreshing the screen one more time... and then before I know it, I'll have been on for a few hours!

johntam I know you are so right. I know that's what I have to do. But yemaya has a point, how do you do it. I'm having a hard time, guess this is addictive.

Because the apps are already in! Why does what some other worrying teenager think affect your chances of getting into harvard or not?

Originally I didnt want to come because I didnt want to read all the other people's stats and be depressed. Then I felt relieved and knew that it was the right thing to do.

Sure this site might be addictive but you gotta tell yourself that its over, just wait for the decision. Theres no point in posting here every 5 minutes asking, What are my chances! What are my chances! I got 3.9 GPA, 1480 SAT, Class vice president, volunteered at local congressman's office for the past 2 summers!

Im sure everyone is sick of reading those too. Lets have our lives back again. And believe me, Im not just talking out of my butt. I care more about the decisions than any one else but I know this is the right thing to do.

I completely agree about the depressingness of these boards. You see kids with 1550-1600 GPA freaking out because they just "know" they won't get accepted into random top choice school. I got in the 1400s and consider that to be a worthy score, but people here act as if you will not get into the school of your dreams unless you're 1500 or above. If you talk to people in the real world you will find, as I did, that MANY people with mediocre (and by mediocre, I am mocking the standard opinion of scores 1350 or above) scores get accepted into their top choice college, while a surprising amount of the people with amazing scores do not. Maybe the "Mediocres" work harder on creating a well rounded application than the higher scorers, who knows?

I have a friend who scored a 1590 on his SATs and he didn't put NEARLY the amount of time or thought into his essays that did. Now, I'm sure he will be accepted wherever he applies because he is an awesome kid but the point is that there really is no logic in worrying about it now or comparing yourself to these people who are so insecure as to post their amazing (possibly inflated) scores for random people to critique and judge. Those same insecurities will probably manifest themselves in either the application or the interview. Seriously people, there's nothing wrong with coming online to see if anyone has received any new information, but posting your credentials now is a waste of time and energy. The more caught up you get in this whole "what are my chances?" thing, the more it will hurt if you do not get accepted to your number one school. Ok, that was cathartic. Now get out there and relax. Learn for the joy of learning rather than for the acquisition of immaculate grades because, while being important, impeccable grades are no longer paramount. And wish me luck with MIT =p.

And might I mention that these boards are frequented by the most egregious pessimists with whom I have come into contact.
