Ok here is my situation.... up until around april of 2005 i had a family income of around 85,000 but then my stepdad lost his job and he and my mom are currently seperated (not divorced so i cant just list her income.. i dont think) so that drops my actual income to around 39,000 although my total income from 2005 will be around 60,000 including what my stepdad made before losing his job. Can I find some way to list this in fafsa or something or can i just use an estimate of my family income for 2006. dont know what to do and just for info. my stepdad is changing careers and will have a much lower salary even if he and mother o get back together

If your mom and stepdad are separated OR divorced on the date you complete the FAFSA, you include only your mother's income on the FAFSA. For more information, see this link. http://www.finaid.org./questions/divorce.phtml

Good luck! I moved from IN to TN many years ago! Hope things are going well!

ok... does there have to be some legal forms filed to show that they are seperated??

No forms required, unless the school asks for something. And it's SepArated. :)

But if your Mom is getting support from your Dad-- that will be included in the FAFSA as income to her.
