ok, im at a stand still. im going to wait until the end of the semester to apply, that way i have more grades to base my gpa and they dont think that the 4.o was just luck because it is based off of 1 semester. plus i need to get some more community service in. but i was wondering what all goes into requesting the application? do they ask for your stats when you make a request or not? thanks in advance.

Are you talking to get into the academy? (I'm assuming you must be in college)

They don't consider grades a fluke.

Applications for the USAFA Class of 2011 (entering in June 2007) are now closed.

What grade are you iN?

Yeah that's what I'm wondering. If you're not at least a junior yet, you don't need to be applying to anything.

sorry for not being more specific, im a freshman in college now and im preparing to apply for class of 2012.

OH. That makes way more sense. In that case, no, they won't consider your 4.0 a fluke.

You can start the application process now and update them with more grades later. Your official college transcript after second semester will serve to update your file. Besides, they'll still be focusing on your HS record and will look at your SATs and ACT scores that you took back then. I'd get started (even though it's early); your application won't be reviewed for awhile anyway and an early start looks good from a motivational perspective -- IMO.

sorry for beating a dead horse here, but when do they ask about community service? thats probably my weakest point right now with around 30 hours and i want to get that a little more padded before i apply. thanks

Community service is just something you add to your resume under "civic involvement." Include what group you're working with, if you help out at specific events, etc., and then a rough estimate of the total hours served.
