"Don't study for AP exams"

My friend told me to not study for AP exams. I'm taking my AP psychology final tomorrow and the actual AP exam a week from now.

He just told me to either not study at all, or cram for an hour or study the whole day before exams and finals begin, and get a good night's sleep.

Is this good advice?

NOT AT ALL.

My goodness, that’s crazytalk. You want to do the best you can on the exam, right? So why wouldn’t you give yourself every opportunity to do so and study for it?
Cramming is way too stressful on the mind and body, so that’s not a good idea either, but it will do in a pinch… like for your psych exam tomorrow.

Let your friend be the one to want to bash his/her head in because they didn’t bother studying!

You’re friend probably just.means that it’s so easy that if you’ve taken a year long course, you probably don’t need to study. So, if you need to study, study, but otherwise don’t.

depends on the subject. certain subjects are easier than others…like psych.

Psych, my friend, is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to APs. I’ve known people who haven’t studied + slept through the entire class and have gotten 5s.

Sounds like a great idea…(guys, it’ll help the curves)

Don’t study at the sacrifice of sleep. If you don’t know it by now, you’re probably not going to know it 12 hours from now.

Dont study if you feel you know most of the info. Just stay confident.

Take it from me, study for your AP.

For psych, with the little time left, I would go over vocabulary terms, famous people (e.g. Freud, Skinner), and basic approaches to psychology (psychoanalysis, behaviorism, etc).

A quick review can do a lot. But like others said, make sure to sleep too!

Don’t let your “studying” (it’s really cramming at this point) for your AP get in the way of sleep. This could be disastrous - the effects of cramming offsetting any potential benefit gained by sleeping instead!!
It is crazy not to study for APs in advance to give oneself the best possible chance in passing/getting that 5, especially if one’s classes at school have sub-50% pass rates.

Depends what class. For example AP Calc, your not going to miraculously learn all these concepts on the last week.

Nonsense. Review is essential.

But depends on the subject. Or your study habits, like procrastinators (aka me).

eh it’s not really necessary to study if your teacher teaches well.

is there really a difference between a like a 3,4,5 (aside from the award recognition if you get 4’s) in the eyes of a college?

^ Some colleges won’t give credit for 3. Most top ranked colleges won’t give you credit for 3s .

^^A 3 or a 4 may not get you college credit at some colleges, while a 5 will anywhere, unless the AP isn’t accepted at the college.

^ What college won’t give you credit for a 4?

Nonsense. Quantity of review should be inversely proportional to the quantity you know. If you know everything already, or even just enough, you shouldn’t review.

^^It varies based on exam, also you may get double credit for a 5, while a 4 will only get you a certain amount. It’s not the matter of not accepting, it’s the matter of limiting I guess.

I’d say the opposite. Cram like crazy, and then don’t do any the day before the test. Instead, take a bath and light some incense.
