Don’t know where else to put this… I got my GED and just finished my first semester in community college. Im not really interested in majoring in anything, my recruiter told me i need 15 college credits to join the military and i just need a few more credits. The thing is i passed all my college level classes but failed my remedial class. I am trying to enroll for the summer since i need just a few more credits but i need to be in a remedial course in the area that i need to master which is math so i can enroll in college level classes, I didn’t realize this until now .
Should i just enroll in remedial math and just not go to the classes and attend the college level classes? I really don’t want to take remedial math since it doesn’t really count towards the credits I’m trying to get and because i just don’t care about math i always hated it and never took it serious. I failed remedial math this spring semester but still got credits from my college level classes. should i just suck it up and attend the remedial course?
The obvious answer is yes, unless you have no intention of ever completing your degree. So you mean that without remedial math, you are unable to take anymore college level courses? And without more credits, you are unable to join the military? If that is the case, suck it up and go to class, do the work, and study. Go to the tutoring center and go to professor office hours to get help for content you don’t understand.
Consider it a test of how much you want to join the military.
The military isn’t really going to care if you don’t like an order and don’t want to do it.
Why did you fail remedial math? Do you not think you do not need math in the armed forces?
Don’t you need to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test which includes math?
Hmm that’s true
Math is the basis for a LOT of other subjects. If you can’t do at least basic algebra and some logic, then some huge percentage of college courses are going to be impossible to handle. Without math you can completely forget about anything in STEM, and there is a lot that you won’t be able to do in fields such as economics, music, meteorology, philosophy, management, … .
