Don't you hate people who ask "What's your IQ?"

A lot of teens often ask me that whenever I go on some manifesto about some abstruse topic (I have Asperger's Syndrome, so I have a tendency to do that - and I find it fun :p). Anyhow that's the question that keeps on being asked. I never reveal it (actually I never even took an IQ test in a long time) so I just tell them that IQ really doesn't say that much about an individual (even if it has some use in populations)

Once in a while people ask me, and I tell them because, hey, they wanted to know. Then they immediately say they don't believe me and I'm a liar.

Someone actually told me, after I told her my IQ, that IQ only goes up to 100, so I must be a big fat liar who is soooo condescending.

I know that IQ isn't really a very accurate measure, but if they ask and won't stop asking, I just go ahead and tell them rather than risk having them make fun of me the rest of the day.

An old man (coworker) asked me this the other day and I looked at him, stunned. I was thinking, "excuse me?" I don't know my IQ (haven't paid the $$$ to have it professionally done and probably never will) but I do know my ACT and GPA. :) And I do have enough common courtesy to not ask someone a seemingly pointless and somewhat intrusive question.

lol0rz, I should just expect that question (it's my fault if it irritates me) since I'm the one who's actively acting weird around other teenagers. :p Heh - really - it doesn't irritate me that much (then I acted like it irritated me according to the thread title - oh well - that's more due to the ignorance people have wrt equating IQ to intelligence)

People ask, and I don't tell 'em. My response is usually something like "Oh, something like 105, why?" Then, the person [who asked me the question] starts bragging about his\her 160 IQ ... Then, other people in the vicinity start yelling out their IQs:

"Mine IQ is 155!"
"Well, mine is 158!"
"Oh I was just lying, my IQ is actually 180!"
"I was lying too, my IQ is actually 190!"
"Haha, your IQ is only 190!"
.
.
.

HAHA! Amazing! Do all of these people have ~$200 to shell out, or do you think they're quoting their free internet IQ test results? ;)

Free internet IQ, duh. That's what I say. ;)

101, baby, 101.

"But IQ only goes up to 100! Mine is 55!"

Yes.
I find that usually when people ask me that, they've already started to perceive me as an alien species. So I prefer to deflect such questions, and make self-deprecating comments. If you're the "smart kid", it's a lot harder to make friends since all conversation starts revolving around academics etc., which is usually awkward.

oh, thanks for asking! its 167.

At my school, no one asks about IQ. It's all about the SAT score, baby.

IQ can be on different scales anyway, I don't remember their names but something like a 120 on one can be equivalent to 145 on the other, so it really depends. I hate saying my IQ, although I do know it from a real IQ test. It's very high, but people who take internet IQ tests get ridiculous scores like 170 and think mine is bad because their score is inflated quite a lot.

i hate it more when people assume/guess my IQ.

"I got it from Vons. Where'd you get yours?"

I hate it when people ask my SAT score. I just tell them I haven't checked it yet.

Hmm. I'm not sure what my IQ is. And I don't think anybody's ever asked me.

Answer: "Higher than yours."

does 132 sound about right? i don't remember. i did one of those online testers awhile ago haha.

Online test depends on your internet speed as well and I have slow internet so can't rely. :D A high score is a score above 130 and my online value is and I don't believe online tests are accurate when they tell anyone they have an IQ above 160 because so many people get that and we're not all geniuses now come on.

tokenadult's response (on AoPS): "higher than anyone who cares about it"

Usually only people who've scored high on the online free tests care about it.
