What is your IQ?

I took the test, and got 140. I'd like to hear about yours.

130 - average PhD's
155 - average Nobel Laureate's.

I think universities should considered IQ, as an indicator of gifted kids.

i didnt do to go -20

I never took one. How do sign up for one? I don't know about colleges requiring them...We have enough tests to take already!
Michele

"We have enough tests to take already!"

Yes, yes, of course, you're right! The colleges don't require it, I am just interesting in IQ of other CCers.

my school had us take it when we were young, but the results are sealed until were 18. I don't really care to learn how dumb I am anyways.

These IQ things are the dumbest things ever. I am a hundred percent positive that wherever you guys are getting your IQ's tested, they're inflated.

And, yes, we've had this post up before. It was almost silly how egotistical some kids became when they got a high (inflated) IQ.

Do you honestly believe that among all your friends who got an IQ of around 140ish, you're really more than two standard deviations above the norm (for IQ, s=15 is standard)? In fact, close to three stdevs? If you get a 160, you think you're really 4 stdevs above the norm?

And if you don't know anything about statistics: 3 standard deviations places you in the 99.7 percentile.

144, but that was when I was in 8th grade. It is probably slightly different now (hopefully not lower).

I'm sorry, if this was posted before, I didn't know about it.

ubbercollegeman,
I don't concur with you 1)it's not absolutely dumbest thing 2)your speech is the speech of pessimist

i took an iq test on www.iqtest.com and got 147
i took another one on tickle.com and got 138

conclusion: yea, online iq tests are unreliable

I agree with ubercollegeman - IQ tests are ridiculous. The only remotely practical use is for initial placement in school when you're very young.

To address another comment, I don't think your IQ changes significantly over time. I believe IQ stands for intelligence quotient, where your age is a main factor in the division process. So, as your age changes, naturally so does your score on the test. However, age is taken into account and the resultant IQ score should remain nearly constant for your entire life.

I also think that IQ scores tend to inflate egos. This really makes little sense, since you had absolutely nothing to do with your IQ. If you have a high IQ, thank your parents, or god, or whomever. Don't make the mistake of thinking you had anything to do with it.

I already stated my point above. An IQ of 145 signifies that you are roughly in the top 0.3% of the population (one of the smartest 3 out of 1,000).

Don't you think that it's weird how far, far, far more than 0.3% of people report their scores are about this high?

By the way, believe me. If I believed that IQ's were truly an indication of gift, I'd be the first one jumping on the bandwagon.

Mine is 135. That was from when I was like 2 and a half. IQ only amounts to how much "information" you can understand fairly easily or without too much trouble. Applying it, however, has nothing to do with IQ.

I'm sure some people take internet IQ tests, which are not at all reliable. I had mine administered by a school psychologist when I was in 8th grade.

Even the ones administered by psychologists are slanted, I believe. Who wants to pay big bucks to find out that their kid is mediocre?

On around 5-6 tests, average of 140.

138 on iqtest.com
but i dont believe in online iq tests anyway haha

Try the Ultimate IQ Test at highiqsociety.com, it's supposed to be reasonably accurate...or at least I hope so =). Just to show how much these tests fluctuate, I scored 148 on that test but only 106 on BBC's Test the Nation. The damned 15-second timer on BBC distracts me, lol halfway through a question I look at the timer and then I can't concentrate on anything but the timer, and then it's over. IQ tests weren't made to have a per-question timer, but rather a time allotted for the entire test. So if I could answer as many questions as possible at 30 seconds a piece that would be much better than no questions at all at 15 seconds a pop.

Just to make a point, I just answered the iqtest.com test at random, bubbling in whatever I felt like without reading the questions. It told me my IQ was 97.

So I outperformed almost half the population through random guessing? Right.

Yeah, online IQ tests don't count, LOL.

Actually, the psychologist at my school didn't charge us for the test, it was covered by the school. But I'm sure that if one pays a psych, the results will be somewhat skewed.
