you work your buttcheeks off in a class, doing the homework and studying till 3 (even when you didn tprocrastinate in order to make sure you are thorough), etc, etc, and your friend doesnt do anything, copies homework, doesn't open a textbook, and still has a high A in the class, while you have a B, B+?

^this is an AP class btw....i seriously don't know how he is doing that...I am not saying he is dumb. He is smart, but he does NOT put any effort at all...and this is a subject (not gonna mention which one) that requires a LOT of memorization and that you need to know the details...

like last week...our teacher gave us a practice AP exam...i have been studying for like 4 weeks before that. on the day of the test, like it turns out that it was hecka hard. and note that my friend didn't study a single bit...he didn't even know there was one...and he pulled off a high B on that test, while the rest of our class got C's and below (I got a high C though..so I guess i was happy...sort of...)

is he bsing me that he doesn't study? like he never does his homework or anything and just copies it 5 minutes before its due and gets the points for it....our teacher even saw him do that from me but still gave him full points...w/e im not upset over that..just the fact that he has a wayy better grade.

and then he had the audacity to say to my face "oohhh i like how you work sooo hard in this class and I don't but I still own your grade" ***? Am I really that stupid to have a lower grade? Then, in the end, he turns out to get a 5 on that test...while I get a 2 or a 3..or maybe even a 1....now I'm gonna study till 5:30 today and sleep for half an hour just so that I can catch up...

gah, FML lol. anyone have any advice and/or similar stories?

There are 3 types of smart kids in high school.

People like you. Not naturally smart, but very hard working, diligent, devoted. Characteristics that will help you tremendously in the years past college.

People like your friend or like me. Naturally smart. Good photographic memories. Knows the teacher like the palm of his hand (the style of the teacher that is). We pay attention in class, and we’re able to get everything in our heads. We will suffer as we get into college but get into the groove of things.

People who are Naturally smart and don’t ever have to pay attention. They have a B average in all of the highest classes. But they don’t apply themselves.

Your “friend” sounds like a huge ******. He reminds me of this one kid at my school that no one liked. Hell I was his friend and I couldn’t stand him half the time.

I get complaints like that from my friends about me (they are also very smart and hardworking). Some kids are just very good at a subject and naturally retain information and know how to apply it without much effort at all. He is not bsing you, he is just good at the subject, and is one of those “smart slackers”.

he’s not a ****** actually, lol. hes actually pretty nice…but you know i work my ass off and i get crappy grades. not only in that class but i have noticed that the past few weeks, my grades have severely dropped.

i used to maintain high A’s…now wth?/ lolall my teachers give me zeros for no reason, i have noticed…idk why…i need to go talk tot hem…

“3. People who are Naturally smart and don’t ever have to pay attention. They have a B average in all of the highest classes. But they don’t apply themselves.”

That would be me. I get almost straight B’s because I don’t do the homework about 90% of the time but I easily know the material without studying or anything and I ace every single test pretty much.

Sorry, I sympathize with those who have to work hard for their grades, but I am definitely like your friend. I have a friend who works hard, does all his work and studies, and he consistently tries to beat me at anything/everything he can and it annoys him to no end how on almost every test I beat him (although in his case, it’s his fault for setting him up for defeat like that especially since I don’t study or anything extra to even try to beat him.)

er, i dont care about who gets the better grade

all i’m mad about is that he never opens the textbook and aces it. how is that possible? remember that this subject requires a LOT of memorization and is almost impossible to ace if you don’t know what is going on

you can try and guess. deals with human body systems, etc, lol

Well what about number 4? Where those naturally gifted people aren’t penalized for missing homework and other silly busywork, but still ace the tests that matter and nevertheless have a thorough understanding of the subject, yielding a maximum grade at a minimal effort.

Those people. You can’t even complain about them lol. There just there to succeed.

Believe it or not, there are people out there who can be told something (or read something, or learn about something) just once and it sticks in their mind forever. Even something like an entire AP USH chapter.

Don’t immediately dismiss his ability to do this as there are people out there. Of course, don’t immediately dismiss the possibility that he could be pulling your leg.

I do agree that he seems like a bit of a jerk though.

It doesn’t matter that other people are smarter and happier than you. Focus on your own accomplishments . I struggle with your problem everyday. They are annoying.

and yea i shouldn’t dismiss his ability to do that…i guess

and yea tnt, maybe i should lol…now that i look at it, i remember tat he told me that this is the only class that he has an A. Other classes where he has the same work ethic, its a B…but w/e

It’s just like that for some reason, for some people.

For example, I barely ever studied for bio, didn’t pay that much attention in class (wasn’t in class half the time because I left early for sports), and still got a 100% on literally every single test. My friend was really annoyed at me because she would study a lot and still get a like 95% (still really good).
Your friend is probably a combination of a good test taker (knows the pattern of how the teacher writes test and what’s likely going to be the right answer). Also probably everything he hears/copies down only once just happens to stick in his head. I dunno, it happens to me sometimes (I wish more often:p) where I’ll just do notes once on a chapter and remember almost everything, or hear a teacher say something and remember it word of word on the test (but only for subjects like history/bio)
But then again, I really have to work hard in some other classes to get an A, so it kind of balances out. Same for your friend I guess, since he has B’s in the other ones.
He just has a natural aptitude for that subject.

yea i guess, lol. but our teacher is incredibly hard and his tests are ridiculous, lol. like one test is easy, next one is difficult! she doesnt have a set pattern, lol
