Dorm HELP

Flat panel would be okay. Otherwise, no.

is there any site where i can find pictures of dorm rooms on the inside (east and/or west campus)? preferably of various dorms?
i've tried googling already. and checked out some of the froshlife videos. maybe some of you current students have pictures to share?

lollerskates - I can help you out with Blackwell pics (and with that, Randolph, because the two dorms are LITERALLY IDENTICAL, inside and out). Just PM me; I have no prob sending pics (I'm pretty proud of our cute little room anyway....awww I miss it...).

Don't judge good ol' G-A (Gilbert-Addoms) by its cover if you see a photo of it. Though probably one of the ugliest dorms on East, it was a ton of fun and is usually known as one of the most sociable First-year dorms. Also, Ms. O is an awesome lady who works on the cleaning staff there and was like a mother to many of us. She brought us soup when we were sick and came to all the dorm social functions. Those of you who are lucky enough to live in G-A next year will get to know her well. Also your FIR (Faculty in Residence) next year is a fascinating lady that I took a class with named Dr. Rasmussen. She is a sassy New Zealander who specializes in the study of Lemurs. I'm sure you all will be having some free trips to the Lemur Center next year.

If anyone wants Jarvis pictures feel free to PM me...I have a few, including my closet.

some girl with DSG came and took pictures of my room for the RLHS website... I haven't been able to find them, but I guess they got pictures of a lot of rooms, so if you have better luck than I do for finding them, that would be pretty helpful for those with questions.

so I need your opinions.

at first I took the "choose your dorm" trick from this board, and wrote a dormname on my roomie request form. but now that i think i have a roomie, i'll need to write her name down on the request.

since there are 2 roomie slots incase you want a triple, i could write HER name in one and the DORM i want in the other. but i definitely definitely definitely do NOT want them to assume that means i want a triple in the dorm i requested with the girl i requested. i would rather not have a triple, but just as much i would not like to be stuck in epworth or some other far off dorm!

so what do you guys think? take the risk, and write down dormname and roomie name in each of the two slots? in that case, you don't think i'll get stuck in a triple. how many triples are there available? or should i not risk it? are the far off dorms really not as isolated and bad as the impression i've been getting?

thanks! :)

I would just make sure your roommate requests the same dorm in the exact same manner that you do. I don't know how many characters are allowed, but you could always write something like "Want Alspaugh (not a triple room)"

I still don't know if your request will be honored though.

East Campus is very small. None of the dorms are isolated.

Epworth will prolly not be a dorm next year. Last I heard, it was being converted to office/classroom space. It was supposed to be last year, but they had an overflow of acceptances and had to keep it open as a dorm for another year.

Thanks guys!

One more question: if you request a/c with a doctors note for your dorm on your housing application (i'm not really sure how it works since my roomie is the one doing it), will they automatically put you in one of the AC dorms? or is it still possible and/or likely to get put in a dorm on the main quad and then install AC? or, for the latter to happen, do you have to give them the doctors note AFTER you receive your housing assignment?

thanks again :)

They might put you in a non-AC dorm and install AC. I don't think it depends on when you give them the note.
