Hello, I'm planning to go to UMass in fall of 2015 and before I do I would just like to know the social scene on each part of the campus. Like I hear that southwest is loud and crazy but is it always like that? I also hear that Northeast is really quiet and nothing goes on there. I wanna live where there's parties but not constant loud noise where I can't even sleep at night, but I also do not want somewhere quiet and boring. Where can I get the best of both worlds?

bumpity bump

there are several discussion threads about dorm life and which dorm is better for which school students. Check them out.

@MHMdad couldn’t find the answer to my question could you answer? thanks

There is another one. Trust me, there are several of them. Just do some research.

Consider Orchard Hill/central. Seems like it would be good for you.

thank you @MHMdad @penguinz03

Central sounds like it would be best!
@laurrodes I thought so too but I heard a lot of people smoke there…& i’m not a smoker lol
I have plenty of friends who live there and don’t smoke and they don’t feel left out, just like there are probably plenty of people in southwest who don’t party 24/7, im sure you’ll be able to find a group of friends for you wherever you chose to live
Well it’s not being left out that I’m afraid of, I just hate the smell of marijuana. But as you said, there’s many people there that don’t smoke so it shouldn’t be that big of a problem. @laurrodes
Was also wondering if UMass owned any sorority houses since I was thinking about joining one
yes they definitely do! if you go visit the campus you should be able to see them on the street driving up
I recommend the RFYE (Residential First Year Experience) and a RAP (Residential Academic Program). See link:

thank you @umassparent, but I don’t know If am eligible for RAP if I’m a transfer student even though it will be my first year there. Looks interesting though.
