Dorm/Living Learning Community pros/cons

KELLUM has a new living/learning community as part of PROJECT LEAD.
Below is information about the program if your student is interested.

Living Learning Program:
Genesis is a leadership living-learning program. All Genesis Program participants are required to live on the 9th floor of Kellum Hall which has affectionately been termed “K-9.” The Genesis community is built on trust and commitment and emphasizes a sense of diversity.

The Genesis Leadership Program is a leadership learning course for first-year students at Florida State University designed to provide classroom training and understanding in leadership theory as well as providing hands on learning experiences through service projects and community involvement. Students have the opportunity to meet and gain valuable insight by interacting with a variety of staff and faculty members, community leaders, and current student leaders at FSU. Throughout the course, students are able to build confidence in themselves and their abilities to work with and lead others.

Yes there are places to eat within walking distance, though it was very hard to do things without a car. A lot of places happen to be near the school but its a very looonnnggg walk. The campus itself is very large so even walking from the east side to the west is a chore sometimes.

HMM saw this old post. Just how long does it take to walk from say the Landis HAll to Tennesee Street?

atleast 5 minutes probably a little more

Yep - across Landis Green, past Strozier Library then either through the Union or by Conradi and you're at Tennessee Street. 5-10 minutes.

thx
i recallled that the campus was very "walker friendly." seems to me no car needed?

You definitely don't need a car if you live on campus and have a meal plan. Everything is walkable and there are buses too.
You could wait to see the first semester grades before deciding to send a car.
