so is the price of 11,600 paid by each person or is it split btwn 3 people

each person pays that much.

oh my…

That’s each, but it includes food, well I think like 2 meals a day.

Works out to about 1.5 meals a day on the basic plan, unless you buy two breakfasts instead of a breakfast and something else.

So if I have the basic plan I can’t make it buying a lunch and a dinner each day?

Go to the buffet-style dining halls and sneak food in your bag!

i’m going to sneak food out of the buffet.

can anyone explain to me why the standard meal plan is set up the way it is instead of a standard three meals a day?

i don’t get it. =(

Because you won’t want to eat 3 meals a day at the dining commons.

Can you use your meal points for non-meal stuff? Like if you went to the Cal Store, could you buy a shirt or something with it? (Not using the money you put in your Cal debit card, but using your meal points themselves.)

the only non meal stuff you can get with meal points that i know about are coffee cups and tea pots from the Peet’s by crossroads.

there’s snacks stuff at the GBC (on campus), Ramona’s (on campus), smoothies at Peet’s, and some other stuff at Cub Market (at Foothill). GBC has the most stuff - lots of snacks, drinks, and some frozen foods.

Lol, if $11600 was for all three people, there would be a LOT more returning students in the dorms their second year.

so the school makes more money by cramming 3 people into one room - not only do they get ~36K for a room in stead of ~26K, they get extra rooms to cram more people in…

for some of us, its really hard to use all the meal points b/c food from places around berkeley is just so good.

They don’t “get extra rooms to cram more people in.” They’re forced to cram more people into the existing rooms because they have no means of constructing or obtaining more dorm space.

most people end up using all their meal points because they get sick of the food around Berkeley and they don’t have much money to use. even though i go home every other weekend to get food and sometimes go out to eat, I still ended up using all my meal points.

5 meal points for a condom at Bear Market. what a ripoff!

haha. maybe they’re trying to deter people.
