Dorm Room - 2, 3, or 4 roommates?

Looking at residence hall options, interested to hear pros and cons for different room options: 2, 3, or 4 occupants. Sure, personal preference has a lot to do with it. Would like to hear student experiences. For example, having a hard time imagining 4 students sharing a room, but maybe it works out better than you would think? 2 students would offer more opportunity for privacy, but maybe boring, and if you don’t get along that could be uncomfortable i would think. Maybe 3 is ideal, best of both worlds? Appreciate any insights. Thanks.

Currently live in a 4 person room and it’s not too bad. A part of me wishes I would have just gotten a two person room but when you (and all the dorms around you) all have 4 people you are bound to meet people that you’ll like. Also, most 2 person dorms don’t have their own bathroom so I would consider that as well if that’s something you’re concerned about. I don’t know any people that hate all 3 of their roommates, but I do know people that hate their only roommate… so I would consider that.

@Mentorite Hi! I am trying to finish my housing contract and am super confused about the 1, 2, 3, 4 person occupancy… Do you know if they refer to the number of people in a room or in a suite? Like if I choose a suite that has 2 rooms with 2 people in each room (so there are 4 people living in the suite), should I choose the 2-person occupancy or the 4-person occupancy when completing my room type preference? Thanks!!

@strawberry7 What i found the most helpful was to look at the Residence Hall info at osu.edu. Here’s link: http://housing.osu.edu/roomsearch/. On this page you can look at the typical floor plan for each of the residence halls you are considering. With so many different halls and so many different floor configurations, i found this approach most helpful. For example, i clicked on Taylor Tower on this page, then at the bottom of the Taylor Tower page there is a link to view Typical Floor Plan, where it was clear that the 4 person room had a sleeping area with 2 bunk beds; a study areas with 4 desks; and a private bathroom/shower. Not sure this is much help, but good luck with your decision!

@Mentorite Thank you so much for your help! I just submitted my housing contract. I applied for Bowen and hopefully will be living with other Mount scholars. Now I’m trying to find a roommate
