dorm room question

You can call the store directly to make sure that they received your order. I originally planned a pickup at another store and then switched - the store called to double check where I was picking it up.

We leave in two days to fly out and head in our rental car to Grinnell. If you were to visit our home in Seattle, you would see almost no visible sign that our son will be essentially moving away for nine months. There is one box in the middle of the living room floor with four pairs of wool socks, a package of boxers, and some putty for putting up posters in his dorm room. I put these items in the box. While H and I are at work, our son is supposed to be getting organized and packing. When I got home yesterday, he proudly showed me a new prized item he’d purchased at the Goodwill – a singing and piano-playing Ray Charles doll that is 17 inches tall. He insists it must come with us to Grinnell. We’re making progress.

Well, some could say this is progress. It made me laugh. Hopingforaid, when you come through Coralville there will be other options for shopping in addition to BBB. There is a Target across the highway from BBB in the Coralvill Mall where there is also a JC Penney and other stores. Near BBB there is a Kohl’s and a Walmart. From there heading west on I-80 there is mostly nothing except for the Tanger Outlet Mall. As I am sure you already know there is a Walmart in Grinnell. Looks like great weather for Fri/Sat/Sun, maybe a bit of rain on Fri but looks like it will be more north. Safe Travels.

The dorm move-in went well. Our BBB order was waiting for us in Coralville – thanks to CC for alerting us to that pack and hold option. It was a bit chaotic but fun to help our son get set up in the dorm room. Very glad we had a surge protector / power strip – a must for the dorm room. Grinnell was amazing – loved the campus and the community – will post other observations on a different thread.

Glad to hear that. Good thing the sun wasn’t out early in the day or the heat and humidity would have been much worse. The fog was so thick, very unusual for this time of year. I told my daughter, if she spots “Ray Charles” to let me know!

Oh yes, jdash, Ray did indeed make it. We packed up one suitcase and one large box – rest of our luggage was carry-on. Ray was wrapped in the down comforter and went in the box along with a few other things. It was a bit of a sacrifice in terms of precious space. What we do for our kids!
