I'd also like to have a double.
You know, having a roomate always seemed to be an integral part of being at a boarding school, at least to me. I'd like to experience it.
But I agree that if you have an awful (very messy, annoying etc.) roommate and you're already enemies after a couple of days, that is a huge problem. However, I hope it doesn't happen so often.

My friend who goesto new Hampton school said it is almost impossible to get a single until you are a junior (by then, you'll probably have a best friend you want to room with). As for the "what if I don't like my roomie situation", most, if not all, schools have new students fill out a servay so they can match people up based on sleeping habits, taste in music, neat or messy. Most schools have roommate transfers if you and your roommate really don't get along.

Like DiveAlive said, roommates can be a great thing, or they can cause some trouble. For example, when my older sis was at one of the HADES schools, she had roommates for her first two years, but she didn't really like them too much and had some bad disputes with her first roommate. She ended up living in a single for senior year.

On the other hand, my sister knew many many people who had fantastic roommates and became very close and still keep in touch. :)

Like I said before, I have a roommate and we get along really great. I wouldn't have it any other way. Although she is a little messy, we still get along and are almost like sisters. I think the roommate life is kind of like the quintessential boarding experience. It helps you get adjusted, too. And don't worry about getting a bad roommate, there are very few, if any, of those. And if you really hate your roommate, it is very easy to switch (at least at my school).

I love seeing last year's applicants, or at least posters, coming back here :D It's vaguely nostalgic because back then there were cool threads about printers and decisions and emails and dorm life. then again there weren't as many "ask a prep school student" threads

I would definitely do a single in senior year though. It's just something that you might feel entitled you, after all from then on all you're really facing is another four years of boarding with other students. And college dorms are like half the size of prep schools XD

haha! thanks! it feels so nostalgic to come back here. i remember how i basically lived on here this time last year, so i figured i might as well come back and ansewr any questions you guys might have! i know how hard this week is.

yeah, that might be a good idea. i'm dreading college dorms in a way, but i guess the lack of saturday classes, study hall, check-in, and curfew, might be nice in a way. but my friends and i were talking and we said that we can't picture not doing those things. i bet i'm going to walk around the dorm the first night in college and be like who's check in (because i never know, and i always have to ask what prefect it is.) and everybody's going to be like what? haha!

AGSAABS two questions.
What school do you go to now? (peddie...? i think that sounds familiar)
and what does your username stand for? haha

Assuming I get accepted- Yeah I'm probably going to get a double. New 10th graders get less preference than returning students. BUT the new 10th grade dorms at Choate have a majority of single rooms, sooo....?

yeah, I go to Peddie. It's amazing!
And I kinda forget what my username stands for, I think it was just a bunch of random letters or something. very inconvienent! lol

haha. how do you like peddie? its not one of the schools i am applying to, but ive heard nothing but amazing things about it.

It's really nice. I've had such a great time so far - the academics, boarding life, everything. What schools are you applying to?

foxcroft and miss porters

Those seem like great schools, too! Good luck!

thank you! are you currently in 9th grade?

You're welcome! Yeah, I'm in 9th grade. What about you? Will you be a freshman next year?

ill be a sophomore next year.

I really wouldn't mind a nice acceptance letter right about now.

Wouldn't it be really cool if cc friends got into the same school o_O Odd, but cool. That will definitely happen, but I mean like EVERYONE. Or at least like really close schools like SPS/Exeter or Choate/Loomis/Hotchkiss? or Hill/L'ville. XD

I was tlaking to a few people about that- we kind of wish our top choices were all the same! It'd be nice to already know someone, an insta-friend, even more so then your roommate! Haha

yah... wouldn't be cool if two CCers ended at the same school, as roomates!

haha that should totally happen! When acceptances come out, we should say where we're going, then if another CCer is too, we can like meet up at school. Like arrange it online, then meet! It would be sooooo cool.
