Dorm Security/ visitors

Im an enrolled student in the class of 2015 and I was wondering how easy/hard it is to get visitors into your room or to have them stay the night. I feel like in a city university security would be really strict and Im hoping that Ill be able to have my girlfriend and friends stay over whenever they come to visit.

You are allowed to have overnight visitors (make sure your roommate agrees to the visitor and time). I forget, you may be able to have the same visitor for 3-4 nights a month total and something like 6 nights total for all visitors? If you want, I can double check on the actual number of nights and get back to you.

Here’s a link to the guest policies:

[Guest Policies](http://www.nyu.edu/life/living-at-nyu/on-campus-living/get-to-know-yourhome/guest-policies.html)

For overnight it’s something like no more than 3 overnight guests per visit, up to 3 consecutive nights, and no more than 6 nights in a month. A short-term guest that’s not staying over is welcome anytime, they just have to check in with security, and you could also get Guest Passes to make the process a little easier.

It’s a complete pain in the ass. Some buildings are a bit easier than others, but in general, it’s a hassle. Having someone overnight is not a problem, but you need to get this card and have all your roommates/suitemates sign it for the dates of your visitor, then leave it in the resource center. Then the guest gets a pass that they can show to the guard any time they want to enter, but you have to be accompanying them or they can’t go up.

You can’t have more than 3 people overnight at once, you can’t have any amount of people stay more than 3 nights in a row, and you can’t have visitors more than 1 week of the 4 total in the month. It’s obnoxious.

Thank god I’m living in an apartment. lol

I can’t wait to go off-campus, only problem was that I went abroad this semester so I can’t get involved in the apartment hunt for next year, so now I have to wait another.

I’m sure your girlfriend loves you very much. This question is so thoughtful and cute.
