purple girl - Natural Sciences is sort of all over the middle of campus. Any of the dorms will be convenient.

pixel - my ds is in engineering honors and lives in Carothers. He likes it very much and is staying in the honors dorms next year as well. They eat at Kinsolving, just 1/2 a block away. It has the best food on campus.

i just did my housing contract about a week ago - does that mean i’m guaranteed housing or is it still a maybe? and how do i even find out more about making selections, getting a roommate, etc? i’m so confused about this whole housing process…

Let’s go over this one more time for those folks who don’t want to read through the thread to pick up information…

You get into the housing queue when you submit your housing application along with payment. I believe that’s a $25 fee. People are encouraged to do this AS SOON AS THEY APPLY TO THE SCHOOL because housing is limited.

This is different from your housing CONTRACT, which you submit after you have accepted your offer of admission, paid your admission deposit and then pay your housing contract deposit.

You can go to your bealonghorn page and look at housing status for your particulars. There you can find a roommate or indicate your roommate choice and indicate your dorm preferences after you have paid your deposit. The language on your housing page should indicate if you will get housing, although I have to admit I found it rather vague. Dorm/roommate selection is finalized in July, I believe.

For anyone who has been accepted into honors (and especially for an out of state or international kid who comes to UT not knowing a group of people), I would highly recommend the honors dorms. It is a very nice environment. Friendly kids, very open to making new friends. My D has lived there for two years and really enjoyed it. Andrews the first year (because that is where they put her) and Carothers the second year (a friend of hers was in a nice corner room in Carothers and kept it for them for their second year). It is social but not crazy. They have nice patios and a nice quad for hanging out informally - plus there are often “study breaks” with free food there.

Everyone at UT eats everywhere, but kids who live in honors housing tend to eat at Kinsolving which is right across the street from the Littlefield end of the quad (or J2 if they are near J2 at lunch time) - but tjeu also take advantage of the very tasty food at the Littlefield Patio Cafe which is right in the honors quad. They accept dining dollars after 2. Kinsolving is good but you get tired of the cafeteria.

And - same as with Kinsolving housing - honors housing is so close to Guadalupe that all of the fun restaurants are very near by, and a number of them accept Bevo Bucks.

Oh - and apparently many who live on campus like to have Wendy’s fries in Jester at 2 a.m. What’s up with that?!?

Bevo Bucks can be used for all students. [Bevo Bucks - Bevo Bucks](<a href=“Bevo Pay | University Housing and Dining”>Bevo Pay | University Housing and Dining)
