Applying... for Housing??

Since I qualify for automatic admissions, it says that I can apply for housing now. If I am applying to other schools and will not hear back until March/April from them, should I pay $50 and apply for housing or wait until spring?

Pay the deposit now! You will have a better chance of getting into the dorm you want.

The part of the housing app you can turn in now is just parent contact info and the $50, so it’s essentially just holding your place in line until the springtime, when you decide where you might want to live.

Despite the fee and the fact that I haven’t been accepted yet, I turned mine in already because I’ve heard some horror stories about getting stuck in Jester… 3,000 college freshman in one building is not my cup of tea.

If you are already admitted, and applied for a housing contract, you can now agree to your housing contract by paying the $300. Not sure if this is refundable. At least this is how my son’s account is now. I would think that $300 deposit would put you “in line.”

Hmmm… I’m waiting until April to commit to a school because the other schools won’t give me a notification until then…
I already paid the $50 I’ll wait until spring to maybe commit to UT

Not true. The $50 deposit puts you “in line”. And the date to finalize your dorm choices list is late like June or July 1. Pay the $300 contract once you have committed to the school.

Thanks for clarifying lots2do…I reread it and see that now. Wish I had held off on prepaying the $300! Oh well!

I got offered a supplemental housing contract for the time being in the spring semester – should I accept it?
