Dorming at one campus while living at another?!?!

I know its weird and a long shot. BUT. Do you think or know if its possible to take classes at one Rutgers campus while living at another? I got accepted to the Camden School of Business but honestly my first choice was New Brunswick, for many reasons. The top reason being that NB has better opportunities, and next being the campus life and the fact that its not too far from home. I didn’t get accepted to NB.

So right now I have to option to either take online classes at Camden or in school. Now what I want to know is that if it would be possible for me to take online classes under the Camden campus while dorming at the New Brunswick campus? This would only be a temporary thing for a semester or two before I am able to transfer to NB all together.

PLEASE HELP! I know its weird and not traditional but its something I was seriously thinking about.

You’re assuming that you’ll be accepted as a transfer… what makes you so sure? I know nothing about their policies, but that’s one thing that just jumped out at me from your post.

Issue number 2: What’s Rutger’s policy here? You’ll need to speak to someone in admissions or housing to see whtehr it’s possible.

The opportunities available on the NB campus are for NB students. I’m sorry you weren’t accepted to the branch you wanted, but even if NB treated their college dorms like long-term hotel rentals, which I don’t believe they do, it wouldn’t help you to live in a community that you can’t participate in. Your community is the Camden campus. You might not be accepted as a transfer student, so you really need to approach Camden like it’s where you’ll be for the next 4 years.

I really wish we could do that too OP.
You’d totally still get in on the social life and I don’t think it’d be that much of a long shot that you could transfer to NB. Provided you do well in your grades. Please update if you get an answer from Rutgers about this and feel free to message me if you’re looking for a roommate.

I don’t believe Rutgers works that way. The three RU campuses: Newark, NB, and Camden operate as separate schools. Your scenario would be similar to saying, could I live at Montclair State while taking online classes at RU-NB.

NB dorms are for students enrolled at NB.

Moe- It is understandable that you want to get your life started at the NB campus from the beginning to make new friends and get situated before you transfer but unfortunately Rutgers is going to want you to board where you are accepted. Since you were not accepted they will not allow you to room there and attend the Camden campus. Did you apply other places? If not then you are going to need to decide to do online or attend Camden and work towards getting into NB junior year.

Rutgers New Brunswick dorms are for Rutgers New Brunswick students only.

You can transfer from Camden to New Brunswick, but it’s a lot harder to transfer to RBS that it is to transfer to SAS.

To transfer to RBS from Camden, you’ll need a 3.5 GPA & complete English Composition 1 & 2.

You’d also need to complete intro to financial accounting, intro to stats, macro, micro, & unified calc 1.

Other options: You could also try transferring to Newark(would be easier & the RBS out there is good), transferring to another college, our do the community college route.

But if you’re serious about still transferring to the RBS in New Brunswick/Piscataway, you need to do very well in Camden.
