Hello, everyone! I was just admitted to UT Biochemistry recently and there’s about a 95% chance of me actually attending. My future roommate and I both applied to an honors program (I applied to Plan II and he applied to Dean’s Scholars) and we’re interested in living in the honors quad if one/both of us get in. I was just wondering what the positives and negatives were of each of the four dorms.
Thanks in advance!
@freshmesh167 - I will fill you in on what I know about the quad- sometimes known as A-B-C & L. (DS has lived there 2 years)
The Honors Quad is a great community. The dorms are older but, there is a certain charm to the buildings.
Littlefield is a female only dorm.
All have community baths which has never been a problem for DS & he doesn’t have to worry about cleaning it.
A & C most rooms have a sink, which is very convenient. The closet (1) is small. You can control the temp in your room in these 2 dorms- seems to be an issue across campus where you will read that students are ‘freezing or burning up’ because the temp is controlled somewhere else. (Not sure about Blanton for that issue)
B has 2 closets- don’t really think that makes up for a sink.
Dining (buffet) is right across the street at Kinsolving- also has the Kins mart where you can buy grocery stuff. Littlefield Patio is also available- tends to cost more than the buffet.
If you haven’t looked at the UT site- you can see a few picture, etc. for the Quad in the Whitis Area section.
