Honors Quad

What are the honors dorms like? Has anyone taken a tour of them? Campus location?

We toured them this weekend. No rooms were available to see though. The co-Ed halls are all connected. Littlefield (all girls) is not. All of the halls had nice common areas with a very old college charm. They are all community bath. If you are looking for spacious and new, they are not it though. Location- they are more central than Duren but not as central as Jester. The students dine in Kinsolving or the Littlefield Patio Cafe. We got the sense they were quieter than Jester but not sure we can vouch for that since it was close to noon on a Saturday and a lot of students were still asleep.

We toured the honors dorms this weekend as well and the RA showed us her room (which was really really nice of her). I agree old college charm which means the halls/rooms/areas are NOT modern. Across the street is Kinsolving which was enormous. It felt more impersonal to me. The setup of those rooms had slightly more space but less closet space. However it was a show room - so no idea what a real room looks like. Across from Kinsolving is Duren - which is new, modern and more like rooms at other colleges. Duren has nicer options for furniture and private bathrooms (you clean yourself) It’s also pricier by several thousand. All of these places are a block from each other and on the outskirts of campus (NW) - look at a map. UT campus is not huge. A 10-15 minute walk will get you to Gregory Gym. Jester is an enormous dorm and more central - we didn’t tour it. As we were told - if you get your housing application in late - that’s all that will be available. Duren and San Jacinto (San Jac) are the same however San Jac is located near the Stadium on the opposite side of campus (SE).

I know I’m really late, but I think you should live in the Honors Quad if you go to UT because it’s pretty close to the engineering buildings, and most importantly, closer to Kinsolving :wink:

@imthereal I wonder what’s in Kinsolving…hmmmm

@FutureOilBaron‌ Everything wonderful is in Kinsolving! It has the best buffet-style dining hall, the “Gallery of Great Texas Women,” spacious dorms, and grills. Many grills.
