<p>I was recently accepted to Cal Poly by early decision, and I am having trouble whether or not to live in the co-ed dorms or the cerro vista apartments. I’m afraid if i choose the apartments I will miss out on the social aspect of college that is so appealing. Yet if the dorms are unbearable as far as space that could also be a problem. Please help out!! I have to apply for housing on Fri.</p>

<p>I have plenty of friends down there that have stayed in the dorms and they don't seem to have a problem with it. I think if you stayed in Cerro Vista, you would miss out on some of the social aspect of college, but that's just my thoughts on it. I know, my boyfriend couldn't get housing and was forced to live off campus, and he's still bitter about it. He wishes he could have lived in the dorms because he says he feels like he's missed something. </p>
<p>So personally, I'd go with staying in the dorms.</p>

<p>I say Dorms for your first year. I don't think Cerro Vista can get you involved with your fellow students as much as a dorm can.</p>
<p>Hey I was admitted ED too and I decided to opt for Cerro Vista, it means alot to me to have a nice place...</p>
<p>Space isn't really a problem if you choose Yosemite those dorms are huge.</p>

I could not go without posting on this subject, because I feel soooo strongly about this. Absolutely you should choose the dorms! My daughter got in for summer last year (she did not apply for reg) and lived in Sierra Madre. She made so many friends from that experience, and those are her close friends now. She had to move off campus for fall, and now lives in Stenner Glen. She actually likes it, but if she hadn't lived in the dorms over summer and met all of those people, it would have totally been harder to meet people in the suite situation she has now. Plus, the dorms are so much closer to everything. She is applying for Poly Canyon for fall, but with a group of friends.</p>
<p>By the way....she is in the Rec and Tourism major. She loves it, and has done so many fun things. She volunteered at a bridal fair and got a part in a TV ommercial from it! </p>

I've only heard good things about it, and I'm really looking forward to starting my classes. I've worked at bridal fairs up here in the North Bay with my internship so I know what a blast those can be. Thanks for posting! :)</p>

<p>just curious as to why anyone not in the college of arch & env. design would particularly choose sequoia?</p>
<p>Well when I first toured Cal Poly about 2 years ago, a friend let me tour her dorm and it just happened to be in Sequoia. I fell in love with the exposed red brick wall and I preferred the short and wide rooms as opposed to the long and narrow rooms in Sierra Madre. Ever since then, it was my dream to go to Cal Poly and live in Sequoia, so part of it is just that.
Also, I have rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, and it's just easier when I don't have to deal with a lot of stairs. Sequoia has the least amount of stairs, and it's the lowest dorm on the hill. I also love the super close proximity to the UU and the gym, and my classes are fairly close as well. My major is actually in the Agriculture college, which I believe correlates with Fremont dorms, but it's a bit too tucked away from the thick of things. </p>
