Dorms suck

I can't wait until next year when I can move to an apartment.

No duh hence the reason why only freshmen usually live in them and everyone else lives off campus after the first year.

The people who hype up dorms so much and tell you it is essential for your first yr are those who hated and want you to feel the pain.

What are you guys talking about? I guess it depends on what college you go to.

Here, most people try and live in the dorms all 4 years. I know I love dorm life.

Ditto here- most people stay on all 4 years who can (housing is not guaranteed after sophomore year). And our dorms suck. :P

they do suck. the only reason im still living in one is because its an apartment style suite.

Dorm life= awesome!!!

But yea, it probably gets old after a year or two.

Here alot of people never live in the dorms, even as freshmen. The great large majority of students live off-campus. Personally I lived in the dorms for two years and it was fine, not horrible but not great either. By the end of the second year, I was like, "yeah okay, I'm ready to live somewhere else now" though. I really like my apartment I am in now.

honestly, if it wasn't such a rip off, and there weren't RA's to monitor my activities in the room i pay for, i'd want to stay in the dorms.

i've been in a dorm all 4 years... though the last 2 I've essentially been in an apartment, it's just owned by the school and you go about getting one the same way as any other room.

correction.

dorm FOOD sucks.

hah its only been a month and im already sick of it. i want some good homecooked food

I always hated the fact that RAs would knock on your door 5 nights a week and invite you to come to the "floor party" or study session or game night or something.....

Uh, no. I'm busy right now as you can see, and I have my own life and own friends I will be out with later tonight.

So yes I hated the dorms and love my apartment. I may have to walk farther to campus and buy my own food, but I have my own bedroom, privacy, and pets. Dorm life sucks for those who like privacy and quiet

I like my dorm, but I really do like my quiet. I spend most of my non-class time in the library. I'm moving into an apartment next year.

see for me, apt. living drives me kinda crazy. i hate cooking for myself, buying my own food and etc. i DONT like quiet, i need constant noise, distractions and motion or else i go insane. i can't wait to move into a frat house.

you know what really sucks- not having a dorm or apartment

and being a commuter

at most colleges

commuters have no souls

FYI RAs are always trying to bring you out because they're required to

The thing about commuters is so true, my neighbor commutes and he always looks dreary, plus he plays WoW alot so I guess that probably contributed to his condition as well.

Agreed. That's why I commute. I remember reading an interesting newspaper article that asserted that dorms were a blast! -- until the third or fourth week, when the reality of not being home and dealing with a roommate all the time starts to set in, then the regrets start...

Oh puh-leez. If by "soul" you mean the time to stay at school and get drunk and get into trouble all the time then yes, we commuters have no "souls".

Well, I myself might start to look "dreary" when I have to stay at school longer than I usually do, and I'd guess that'd be the same for most commuters, I certainly don't relish the thought of staying up here all day, but sometimes I have to, because of meetings, stuff to do, etc etc. It can't be helped.

And you said he played WoW a lot, if you play any MMO excessively you'll start to exhibit those same symptoms, residential or commuter student.

My dorm is awesome.

^ (10char)

hey do suck. the only reason im still living in one is because its an apartment style suite.

lawlll... westwood =/= option ;P

dorming = good exp but 1 yr was enough for me
much happier in apt.
