Are the floors coed in manzanita village?

i'm wondering that as well, would be nice, the whole floor full of all guys is i don't know, but for san raf men and women are in alternating suites on each floor, so that nice, are all the san raf rooms suites? or just some? i kind of like those high rise buildings.

San rafael is singles, doubles and suites

do suites cost more?

who that has lived or knows a good amount of people who have lived in santa ynez?

ahhhhhhh can anyone give me some infos on all the dorms.
im an incoming freshman so im thinking of doing
1st choice -> santa catalina (FT)
2nd choice -> san nicholas
and the rest i dont know =[

which dorm has the quietness when needed, and the loudness when wanted?

you can check the website for descriptions of the dorms if you haven't already

I guess I'm looking for similar traits, so after a lot of research and talking to many current students, this is my list, in order:
san nicolas
anacapa
santa cruz
santa rosa
san miguel
manzanita
santa catalina

fillupmycup, the only reason santa catalina is last for me is the mile distance from the center of campus. I don't want to be isolated, and a ten minute bike ride every single morning just has to get old, no matter what. The suite style rooms also isolate groups of 4 people from each other. But if you still like that then just put it as first choice and you will most likely get in.

i read through this page and i found lots of differing opinions, so let me run this by and tell me what you guys think:

im looking for a building, on campus (so no FT), that houses lots of freshman.

i like to party, but when im in my room i wanna just be social and also be able to study. i dont want there to be parties or anything going on in my hall, but i dont want it to be deadbeat unsocial as well. i wanna be able to get my work done/hang out with a few buddies in my hall and party outside of my hall in IV or wherever it may be.

im also looking for a building with a hall bathroom, so not a suite i guess. i've heard alot about the building with hall bathrooms tend to be alot more social. it makes sense to me but lots of other ppl disagree. what do you guys think?

also i wanna try to get as big as of a room as possible. im willing to arrange furniture, like bunk the beds or move the desks or something, to maybe fit in a couch or at least just create some room. so i guess im looking for the rooms that are have the largest square footage.

also, do the suites cost any more than the regular rooms? i couldnt see it on the SB website, they only list prices by meal plan and then single vs double vs triple. but i didnt see where it would cost any more for a suite or anything.

i guess i'm in the same boat as ohno except i'm a transfer but same ideas regarding dorm, except i may not party much if at all, not sure about the suite bathrooms vs the hall bathrooms though

Same! But I Want To Be Able To Bring My Car... And I Dont Want To Live In Ft!!!!!!

if you want to bring your car but not reside in FT then hope to whatever deity you believe in that you will be one of the few that get a parking permit, which is a lottery system.

Okay with so many posts i am just REALLY confused...

FT has coed floors?
after FT, where do most of the freshmen live?

I want to get the total college experience and live in a place close to campus, nice area/view, a building with hall bathrooms, coed floors, parties/social life at the appropriate time, quite down time at the appropriate time, and good food!

i know it is a lot to ask for, but what do you think the best place would be with all of the above for an incoming freshman?

and i wont have a car with me so ill be taking my bike everywhere...

thanks! :]

Yea, I don't get what the big deal for people about FT being off campus is... it's like a five minute bike ride. It seems like you will have the best social life there.

i want a coed dorm with a view of the ocean with a social floor on campus

dragondawg: i think manzanita would be the best bew for what your looking for...i guess your not going to be guaranteed a view of the ocean in any bulding but i know san nicholas is like famous for its ocean views but they are all freshman i think

yeah i think there are for freshman, when i said coed dorm i meant floor too

No talk of the apartments? How are things comparable against the dorms?

^^^^ i agree ...i want more info about how life is in santa ynez because ive heard mixed reviews about it

hey i drive my car, and your tellin me when i get to ucsb i cant park it anywhere, ill ride a bike but what am I supposed to do with my wheels
