Hi! I'm a female going to UCB but I can't decide on which dorm is best.
I want a quiet, safe, and clean place that isn't too far or isolated from everything.
I don't want anything too loud, but then again, I don't want the atmosphere to be dead.
I want to be able to study in a friendly atmosphere.
I also have absolutely to plans on living on a coed floor.

research freeborn hall in unit 1 and see if it fits you. it is apparently more “quiet” and “rule-abiding” (and mildly less interesting) than other halls. Ask someone who actually goes there about their opinion of it. however, you should also not that not everyone who requests freeborn will get it.

Hi guys! I might attend Cal as a freshman next year but I have a question about rooming. I know some schools have you fill out a questionnaire to help match compatible roommates. Is it the same at Cal? Or do you just get paired up with someone and work things out from there??

I don’t really want my friend from high school as my roommate because I want to make new friends in college. I’m just scared that I’ll get a weird roommate who smokes weed or someone who stays up until 5 AM doing homework/ studying.

Was anyone successful at finding roommates on Facebook? Or should I just do it randomly?

Luck of the draw for your roommate. Some people’s rooms are just gonna smell like weed for the entire year. You’re not gonna land a mini-suite unless you get really lucky (there’s always a few who do).
I mean, if you want to be close to places, Units are gonna be your best bet. If your floor is loud, you can just go to another floor’s study lounge. Otherwise, it sounds like you’d also want to consider Foothill, although there’s a fair chance that you’ll end up on a dead silent floor and it’s a bit of a walk.
