What are the nicest dorms at Berkeley and what is the difference between Unit 1, 2, and 3 in terms of their quality of rooms, how quiet theyare, social, etc?

What kind of dorms would you like to live in? That would be a better question to ask, and an easier question to answer. =]

what is the difference between Unit 1, 2, and 3 in terms of their quality of rooms, how quiet theyare, social, etc?

Unit 3, I would imagine -- and as I have seen -- is the most social of the dorms. Unit 2 and Unit 1 are alike (they're mirror images of each other, so it's quite easy to get confused ;)), but as I live in Unit 1, in the Substance-Free dorm (Freeborn), it's been rather quiet for me. However, I don't think I can really generalize an entire dormitory as quiet or not. In my experience, some floors are really quiet (my own), and some are really noisy (three floors below, where, incidentally, I like to hang out), so on an average, I would say dorms are relatively social than, say, a silent protest. ;) This is just my view though, and if you can tell me and others what sort of dorm you prefer, we can probably suggest dorms. For example, if you are anti-alcohol (like me), Freeborn's a great choice (to the others, I abhor alcohol, but I don't mind alcoholics. :-P)

How are the dorms at Foothill, are what are the chances of being placed there if you are an engineering student?
