Dorms

Hey guys,

I got into the Honors Program at Northeastern. :D I know that the honors kids get to dorm in International Village if they choose but I can't seem to get any pictures of any of the dorms.

If anyone has any information, pictures, rumors, other stuff about any of the dorms, can you post it here?

Here's some I found of International Village
International Village/ Parcel 18 | Facebook

also, does anyone know if there any dorms with a stove? and what are we not allowed to bring to our dorms? I'd really like to bring a portable stove but I'm pretty sure it won't work.

Oh wow, I was just going to post something like this on here lol. I was also invited into the Honors Program, and couldn’t find anything either, except that IV’s “really nice.”

Thanks for the FB link! At least now I have some ideas! :)

IV is really nice! I’m a sophomore right now and I live in an IV single, and I love it. The walls in IV, though, are very, very thin, and if your neighbor next door or across the hallway has a habit of playing really loud music at night, you’re outta luck 'cause you’ll be able to hear everything.

Pros: Awesome view if you live high enough, pool tables in a few common rooms, a 24/7 quiet floor if you wish to study, three laundry rooms, a gym on the 2nd floor so you don’t have to venture across campus to Marino or down Columbus to Squash Busters, basement classrooms to study in/hook your laptop up to the projectors to have movie nights, dining hall, printer on the 1st floor in case you don’t have your own/don’t want to go to the library to print. Basically, if some freak snow storm shut down campus and you couldn’t leave the building, you wouldn’t have to worry 'cause IV basically has everything you need.

Cons: You have to cross Ruggles to get to IV–generally, it’s really not that big of a deal, but creeps and muggers hang out in Ruggles at night, and it’s not the best idea to walk by yourself then. As mentioned before, the thin walls thing also kind of sucks. No kitchens for the dorms in IV either.

As for other dorms…Last year, as a freshman, I lived in Stetson West, a freshmen-only dorm. It was okay, but I prefer IV over Stetty West any day. Stetson West is one of the older buildings on campus, and it gave off a “jail cell” kind of feeling. My friends in Stetson East and Speare Hall felt the same about their dorms. This summer, though, Stetson West was apparently upgraded. I haven’t been back to see for myself, but I’ve been told everything’s been painted over and reconstructed to give a more “homey” feeling. All the dorm furniture I was given last year had graffiti all over it, but this year, everyone got new furniture as well.

As for your other questions, AvgAzn, you can go here:

There is no “choice” for honors freshmen- you are in IV.

There are kitchens on the hall, not your dorm. Portable stoves are definitely not allowed. To get a microwave, you need to rent it as part of the mini-fridge they will send you information about.

No kitchens in IV at all. Just the dining hall and your microfridge microwave.

Oh, I always figured you had a pathetic stove somewhere… Oh well. Too bad. :P

haha nope, unfortunately!
